DESCRIPTION:Sports exchange between people with disabilities in Hong Kong and Shenzhen \n\n\n\n(Hong Kong ∙ March 3\, 2024) The second Hong Kong Sitting Light Volleyball Competition\, organized by the Department of Health and Physical Education\, the Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) and the Hong Kong Light Volleyball Association\, and co-organized by the Hong Kong Federation of Handicapped Youth and GDCD Association Limited)\, was successfully held on March 3 at the Lai Kok Community Hall in Sham Shui Po. Athletes with physical disabilities from Hong Kong and Shenzhen showcased their sportsmanship in the games. The Hong Kong teams achieved the second and fourth place in the competition. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDr. Leung Ka Man\, Associate Professor at the Department of Health and Physical Education\, EdUHK\, attended the prize-giving ceremony and expressed her commitment to promoting sitting light volleyball\, increasing public awareness and concern for disability sports\, and looking forward to organizing more future activities. Mr. Fu\, Chairman of the Shenzhen Disabled Persons’ Federation\, expressed his hope that such events would provide a better communication platform among athletes with physical disabilities. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSitting light volleyball\, developed by Dr. Leung Ka Man and her team\, is a team-based sport suitable for people of all ages and with disabilities. Importantly\, as there are not many team sports available for people with disabilities these days\, sitting light volleyball helps increase their opportunities for social interaction in sports and contributes to their psychological well-being. Research conducted by Dr. Leung and her team has also found that sitting light volleyball significantly improves the cardiovascular endurance and enjoyment of physical activity among people with physical disabilities while reducing their fat mass.

SUMMARY:Enhancing Focus and Coordination: BEd(PE) Students Create Home Exercises for ADHD
DESCRIPTION:The Bachelor of Education (Physical Eduction) [BEd(PE)] students designed a series of home exercises specifically tailored for students with ADHD\, aimed at enhancing their coordination and concentration. These innovative exercises were created to provide engaging and effective physical activities that cater to the unique needs of students with ADHD. \n\n\n\nTo further support this initiative\, Mr. CHAN Ching Yat\, Roy\, delivered an online lecture titled “ADHD x Sports: Can Exercise Help ADHD?” on 15 March 2024. The audience primarily consisted of parents and educators seeking insights into supporting children with ADHD through physical activity. The lecture covered various topics\, including current research related to ADHD\, the connection between brain function and coordinated movement\, and the concept of empowering coaching. Mr. Chan also introduced electronic platforms including the home exercises designed by the BEd(PE) students\, providing a valuable resource for parents and educators looking to implement these activities in their routines. \n\n\n\nThe significance of this initiative lies in its focus on practical solutions for students with ADHD. The home exercises aim to improve coordination and concentration\, offering students a fun way to stay active. Additionally\, Mr. Chan’s lecture provides parents and educators with knowledge about the benefits of physical activity for children with ADHD\, helping them understand how exercise can support their development. \n\n\n\nBy combining tailored exercises with educational resources\, this initiative equips families and educators with tools to better support students with ADHD in their daily lives. \n\n\n\nYou can visit the Youtube below for revisting the lecture:
