SUMMARY:Departmental Visit by the Vice President (Research & Development) 2026
DESCRIPTION:The Department of Health and Physical Education (HPE) welcomed the Vice President (Research & Development) [VP(RD)]\, Professor CHAN Che Hin Chetwyn\, for an insightful visit to the department on 5 March 2026. The meeting provided a valuable opportunity to discuss EdUHK’s overarching strategic vision for research and development\, as well as to cultivate dialogue on ongoing and future initiatives within the Department. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProf Amy HA (right)\, Head of Department of Health and Physical Education (HPE)\, delivered an opening speech with the VP(RD)\, Prof Chetwyn CHAN (left)\n\n\n\n\nThe meeting gathered the HPE academic and teaching staff\, as well as representatives from the VP(RD) Office\n\n\n\nDuring the meeting\, Prof CHAN shared the University’s vision to enhance research excellence and strengthen collaborative efforts across disciplines. HPE members engaged actively in discussions\, exchanging ideas and providing updates on various research initiatives that align with the University’s strategic goals. The VP(RD) provided guidance on departmental research performance and identified areas for growth with HPE colleagues. In addition\, the session featured an open Q&A session\, enabling HPE members to raise questions and share insights directly with the VP(RD). The department management was also invited to share their observations and perspectives on research challenges and opportunities within the unit. \n\n\n\nDr. Lobo LOUIE (middle) offered suggestions for the potential development and future growth of the Department.\n\n\n\nProf Andrew EDWARDS (front) shared his views on current practices in PhD student admission.\n\n\n\nThis visit underscores the University’s commitment to fostering a vibrant research environment and supporting departments in their scholarly pursuits. SUMMARY:Department of Health and Physical Education Showcases PATH Academy at EdUHK Honours College Launch
DESCRIPTION:The Department of Health and Physical Education (HPE) is pleased to announce the Performance Analysts Transforming Horizons (PATH Academy) as part of The Education University of Hong Kong’s Honours College\, which was officially launched by the University on 31 March 2026. The PATH Academy reflects the Department’s ongoing efforts to support practice-oriented learning. Through collaboration with professional sports organisations\, the Academy brings together sports science\, performance analysis\, and internship experiences\, helping students develop knowledge and skills relevant to football and rugby within a broader global context.The Academy is jointly developed by HPE\, the Hong Kong China Rugby (HKCR)\, and the Football Association of Hong Kong\, China (HKFA). This collaboration supports students by linking formal academic learning with exposure to real-world sporting environments. Representatives from partner organisations joined the event\, including Mr. Jamie Farndale (General Manager of Club Development and Sustainability\, HKCR)\, Mr. Andy Yuen (Performance Analyst\, HKCR)\, and Mr. Chris Yiu (Grassroots Manager\, HKFA). Their participation reflected the shared commitment between academia and professional bodies in supporting student development through the PATH Academy. Students enrolled in the Academy will benefit from professional support and guidance.
