SUMMARY:EdUHK Successfully Completes Its First-Ever Cycling Coach Training Course in Collaboration with CAHK
DESCRIPTION:EdUHK signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Cycling Association of Hong Kong\, China Limited (CAHK) on April 19\, 2024\, to encourage healthy and safe exercising habits and further develop the sport and its culture in Hong Kong. The pair will collaborate to promote cycling\, including the development of a ‘Train the Trainer Programme’ to enable EdUHK students to acquire knowledge and skills in teaching cycling and also to deepen public awareness of safety. \n\n\n\nThe course provided systematic training in coaching methodologies\, safety knowledge\, and technical cycling skills. It covered essential topics by experienced instructors\, such as cycling regulations\, legal responsibilities\, and practical coaching techniques. The course was successfully completed and received positive feedback. The participants are further strengthening Hong Kong’s cycling education and talent development. Following the success of this programme\, EdUHK and CAHK are exploring opportunities for future collaborations to expand cycling education and coaching pathways in Hong Kong. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nStudent’s Sharing \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“This coach training course was comprehensive\, covering areas such as cycling techniques\, teaching methods\, and safety knowledge\, which deepened my understanding and confidence in becoming a cycling coach. SUMMARY:BEd (PE) Students Visited the Shenzhen Bao'an Middle School (Group) Haitian School for a GBA Trip
DESCRIPTION:Students of the Bachelor of Education (Physical Education) [BEd(PE)] programme visited the Shenzhen Bao’an Middle School (Group) Haitian School for a 2-day 1-night GBA trip on 20-21 Mar 2025. \n\n\n\nDuring the visit\, students had the privilege of attending a sharing session by the renowned badminton coach\, Mr. Yu Xiao\, who is also the mentor of the badminton champion Mr. Lin Dan. Mr. Yu shared his unique insights and successful experiences in badminton training\, inspiring the BEd(PE) students to strive for excellence in the field of physical education. Additionally\, a badminton teacher of the Shenzhen Bao’an Middle School (Group) conducted a practical badminton lesson for the BEd(PE) students\, allowing them to experience the fundamental techniques and professional strategies. Following this\, the BEd(PE) students received an introduction to the school’s sports program with the aims to encourage daily exercise\, along with the initiative “人人參與 – 以體樹人”. This emphasized the importance of physical activities in the holistic development of students and encouraged our students to actively participate in various sports activities. This trip to not only deepened the students’ understanding of sports education but also provided valuable opportunities for exchange\, offering significant insights for their future educational practices in sports.

DESCRIPTION:The HPE Student Conference 2024-25 was successfully organized by the Department of Health and Physical Education (HPE) on April 7\, 2025 (Monday)\, with significant contributions of our dedicated RPg students in HPE who formed a working group to facilitate the event. This year\, a total of 50 final-year students from the BEd (Physical Education) and BSc (Sports Science and Coaching) programmes presented their final-year projects on the ground floor of Blocks D1 and D2\, creating a vibrant and enriching academic atmosphere at the university. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe HPE Student Conference has become an annual highlight for the two UGC-funded undergraduate programmes\, receiving widespread acclaim from both students and colleagues at the university as well as invited honored guests from the Education Bureau (EDB) and the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD). The conference offers an invaluable platform for the final-year students to share their year-long developed professional ideas\, findings\, and products in a warm and conducive learning environment with all students\, staff members\, and guests. \n\n\n\nStarting in the 2023/24 academic year\, the HPE Best Poster Award has been established to recognize students who exhibit innovative thinking and outstanding presentation skills at the conference. This year\, we are proud to honor six exceptional students with this award. SUMMARY:Dr Carman Leung Led EdUHK Delegation in Sitting Light Volleyball Demonstration at Singapore Championship
DESCRIPTION:Dr. LEUNG Ka Man\, Carman\, Associate Professor in the Department of Health and Physical Education at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK)\, led a delegation to Singapore from 15 to 16 April 2025 to take part in the “2025 Five Star Cup International Light Volleyball Championship”. The event brought together eight teams from Australia\, New Zealand\, Japan\, Malaysia\, Mainland China\, and Hong Kong\, competing for the champion. Co-organized by ParaVolley Asia Oceania*\, the championship was supported by EdUHK as one of the partner institutions. \n\n\n\nAs a strong advocate for inclusive sports\, Dr Leung led the EdUHK Delegate in a sitting light volleyball demonstration match. This innovative sport\, developed by Dr Leung’s team\, is designed for individuals with physical disabilities. By introducing adapted rules and gameplay\, it offers participants of all abilities the opportunity to enjoy the game\, embodying the spirit of “Sports for All”. \n\n\n\n*ParaVolley Asia Oceania is committed to advancing para volleyball across the region\, promoting cross-border collaboration and inclusive participation.

SUMMARY:Students Participate in Experiential Learning Trip to the Greater Bay Area
DESCRIPTION:From 17th – 20th April 2025\, a group of 46 students from HPE\, led by Mr. CHAN Ching Yat\, Roy\, participated in a four-day experiential learning trip to the Greater Bay Area. This initiative was part of the Community Service Learning project and aimed to enhance students’ understanding of physical education practices in mainland China while promoting professional development and cross-cultural understanding. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe visit began at Shenzhen University\, where approximately 100 undergraduates took part in a practical teaching exchange including presentations on physical education policies and a tour of the university’s sports facilities. Following this\, students worked with local middle school students at Princeton Skylake International School\, conducting light volleyball sessions that focused on experiential teaching and cooperative learning. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOn April 19th\, the group volunteered at a community event with around 120 participants\, promoting health and sports among youth. Students assisted with planning\, registration\, reception\, group organization\, teaching\, officiating\, and maintaining order. Their management of logistical responsibilities was noted by local educators. The trip concluded with group debriefing sessions for students to reflect on their experiences and prepare for their final reports.  This experience contributed to refining students’ instructional skills and strengthening cultural connections between Shenzhen and Hong Kong\, aligning with the project’s objectives of fostering national identity and belonging.

SUMMARY:EdUHK Elite Athletes in Motion: Gymnastics
DESCRIPTION:As an elite athlete-friendly university\, EdUHK has long been committed to supporting the dual career development of elite athletes in both academics and sports\, while also striving to strengthen connections and networking between alumni and the University. In an effort to further promote the professional development of physical education\, the Department recently co-organized the “Artistic Gymnastics Badges Award Scheme Workshop” and the “Artistic Gymnastics Badges Award Scheme Examinations” in collaboration with the Gymnastics Association of Hong Kong\, China. The events brought together several alumni and experienced gymnastics coaches to facilitate the sharing and application of professional knowledge. \n\n\n\nThe activities took place on 6\, 9\, and 20 May 2025 at the Gymnasium at EdUHK’s Tai Po campus\, and were designed for pre-service physical education teachers preparing to enter the teaching profession. The workshop featured Mr. Shek Wai Hung\, M.H.\, a graduate of the Bachelor of Health Education (Honours) and a retired elite athlete of the Hong Kong Gymnastics Team\, who served as the instructor. He generously shared his extensive expertise and teaching techniques with the participants.  For the examination\, Miss Leung Ka Man\, Mr. Jim Man Hin— both the former members of Hong Kong Gymnastics Team who graduated from the Bachelor of Health Education (Honours) and Mr. Shek Wai Hung — served as examiners. Their involvement demonstrated their strong ties with the University and allowed them to inspire the next generation of physical educators through personal experience. In addition\, the Gymnastics Association of Hong Kong\, China assigned professional artistic gymnastics coaches Mr. Yim Chi Hung and Mr. Lee Man Hin as examiners to ensure a fair and professional assessment. \n\n\n\n The workshop covered the following topics: \n\n\n\n\nKey movements from Badges Award Scheme\n\n\n\nSafe practice\, spotting techniques\, and teaching precautions\n\n\n\nAppropriate use of equipment and facilities\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFollowing the workshop\, a total of 94 students from the Bachelor of Education (Honours) (Physical Education) and Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Physical Education) took part in the Badges Award Scheme Examinations held on 20 May 2025\, demonstrating their strong commitment to professional practice. The event not only helped reinforce students’ teaching skills and practical experience but also deepened their understanding of gymnastics education and promotion through hands-on learning and expert guidance.  The Department extends its sincere appreciation to the Gymnastics Association of Hong Kong\, China for its continued support\, and looks forward to further collaborations that contribute to the advancement of physical education in Hong Kong. \n\n\n\n\nPromoting excellence in gymnastics education: Students at the Gymnastics Badges Award Scheme Workshop.\n\n\n\nStudents taking part in the Gymnastics Badges Award Scheme Workshop.\n\n\n\nFuture PE teachers gain hands-on experience under the guidance of EdUHK alumni at the Gymnastics Badges Award Scheme Workshop.\n\n\n\nCandidates demonstrating their gymnastics techniques during the official badge assessment.\n\n\n\nReturning as mentors and examiners\, alumni guided current students in advancing their gymnastics teaching competencies.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Badges Award Scheme programme showcased a meaningful passing of knowledge\, with alumni instructors sharing experience with future PE teachers.

DESCRIPTION:The HPE Learning and Teaching Seminar 2024/25 – Open Class Session\, “Empowering Artificial Intelligence Assessment of Skills Proficiency Test for Pre-Service Teacher in Physical Education“\, was successfully conducted on 29 May 2025. \n\n\n\nDr. WONG Hoi Wai\, Henry shared the outcome of a Teaching and Development Grant (TDG) project\, in which the computational power of Artifical Intelligence was used in a mobile app for assisting pre-service PE teachers in assessing the students’ hurdles skill proficiency. With the help of cameras of mobile devices\, motion of the student during hurdling could be captured for calculating data including velocity and etc. to analyse students’ posture and performance.

SUMMARY:EdUHK Elite Athletes in Motion: Badminton
DESCRIPTION:As an Elite Athlete-Friendly University\, EdUHK continues to champion the dual development of elite athletes in both academic and sports\, while also facilitating their career transformation beyond full-time athletic careers. \n\n\n\nHPE took part in an exchange trip to Nippon Sport Science University (NSSU) in Tokyo\, Japan from 21 to 24 June 2025. The delegation was led by Mr. CHAN Ching Yat\, Roy\, Subject Coordinator of the Bachelor of Education (Physical Education) [BEd(PE)] programme\, and comprised the Elite Athlete Development Team\, including Ms. LIU Siu Man\, Samantha\, and Ms. CHAN Tsz Tung\, Elsa. They were accompanied by Miss. YUEN Sin Ying\, EdUHK’s ambassador for the “Elite Athlete Friendly University”\, a graduate of Bachelor of Health Education (Honours) and Master of Social Sciences in Sports Coaching and Management. \n\n\n\nThe inclusion of an elite-athlete ambassador in the overseas exchange provided valuable opportunities for sharing\, friendly matches\, and intercultural engagement—broadening student-athletes’ horizons and enhancing their interpersonal and communication skills. \n\n\n\nAs part of the cultural and athletic exchange\, Sin Ying delivered a live demonstration of badminton serving techniques and took part in a friendly match with the badminton coach and students of NSSU. She also gave a presentation on her life as an elite athlete-student at EdUHK\, sharing her personal journey of balancing academic commitments with a professional sports career. Her sharing resonated with NSSU students and staff\, fostering greater understanding and appreciation for the experiences of elite athletes in Hong Kong. \n\n\n\n\nFriendly match with the badminton coach and students of NSSU\n\n\n\nBadminton coach and students of NSSU\n\n\n\nDemonstration of badminton serving techniques\n\n\n\nSharing session by YUEN Sin Ying\n\n\n\nSharing session by Mr. CHAN Ching Yat\, Roy\n\n\n\nSharing sessions with NSSU students and staff\n\n\n\n\nThe visit also featured an academic exchange with Dr. Teraoka\, who presented his research on coaching development and athlete education\, sparking productive discussions on the intersections between pedagogy and performance. \n\n\n\nFruitful dialogue with Dr. TERAOKA Eishin and Ms. YAZAKI Sharly Natsu\n\n\n\nThe team engaged in fruitful dialogue with the below staffs of NSSU: \n\n\n\n\nProf. YAMAGUCHI Kazuyuki\, Chairperson Professor\, Department of Sports Studies for International Community\, NSSU\n\n\n\nDr. TERAOKA Eishin\, Associate Professor\, Faculty of Sport Culture\n\n\n\nDr. LEUNG Ling Sze Nancy\, Associate Professor\, Faculty of Sport Culture\n\n\n\nMs. YAZAKI Sharly Natsu\, AD Assistant Professor\, member of the NSSU Coach Developer Academy (NCDA)\, Coach Developer of NSSU Centre for Coaching Excellence\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn addition\, the team also had the opportunity to observe training sessions in traditional Japanese martial arts such as Kendo and Judo\, as well as Gymnastics. These sessions offered valuable perspectives on Japan’s athletic training methodologies and enriched our understanding of sport education from a global viewpoint. During the visit\, the team explored the Japan Olympic Museum and Komazawa Olympic Park\, iconic places that chronicle Japan’s Olympic history and contributions to the international sporting arena. Through interactive exhibits and historical displays\, the team gained valuable insights into the evolution of the Olympic Movement in Japan\, the achievements of Japanese Olympians\, and the country’s efforts in promoting the Olympic values of excellence\, friendship\, and respect. The team also visited the Japan National Stadium\, the main venue for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. With its modern architectural design and sustainable construction features\, the stadium stands as a symbol of Japan’s innovation in hosting mega-sporting events. \n\n\n\nVisited the Japan National Stadium\n\n\n\n\nReflection of Sin Ying \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“I am grateful for the opportunity to participate in the exchange visit to Nippon Sport Science University\, organized by The Education University of Hong Kong. Engaging in various activities and discussions with both staff and students has provided me with invaluable insights\, particularly in recognizing the differences between Japan’s sports training system and Hong Kong’s. In Japan\, sports training is primarily school-based\, which contributes to the comprehensive training systems and facilities available at universities. This foundation likely plays a significant role in the higher sports performance and popularity seen in Japan. Additionally\, members of the national team also train within schools\, fostering a strong training atmosphere among sports teams. Moreover\, each university team is led by sports leaders who guide the training sessions. Even in the absence of a coach\, players demonstrate good cooperation\, ensuring that training remains high-quality and efficient. While the sports culture and environment in Japan and Hong Kong differ\, there is much we can learn from one another and leverage each other’s strengths.’’ Sin Ying shared her appreciation for the differences in sports culture and training systems between Hong Kong and Japan\, emphasizing the value of mutual learning and cooperation. SUMMARY:HPE organizes the 1st International Light Volleyball Competition for Older Adults
DESCRIPTION:Dr. LEUNG Ka Man\, Carman\, Associate Professor at the Department of Health and Physical Education (HPE) of the Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) held the 1st International Light Volleyball Competition for Older Adults on 18 and 19 July at EdUHK’s Tai Po Campus. Co-organised by the Sports Association for Older Adults in Hong Kong\, China\, the event attracted a total of 12 teams and over 120 participants\, ranging in age from 55 to 72\, from Mainland China\, Hong Kong SAR\, Australia\, Japan\, Malaysia and other regions. \n\n\n\nDr Leung has been passionate about promoting active ageing throughout her career\, and has extensive experience and expertise in Light Volleyball\, including her and her team’s current project\, “Light Volleyball for Older Adults: Classes and International Light Volleyball Competition”. The prior research relevant to this event was funded by the Research Impact Fund (approximately 7 million HKD)\, which aims to promote impactful research for the benefit of the wider community. SUMMARY:EdUHK and JCI Queensway Collaborative Study on Physical Activity Engagement and Preferences of Wheelchair Users in Hong Kong
DESCRIPTION:Image source: Bastillepost\n\n\n\nOn 4th August 2025\, Dr. LEUNG Ka Man\, Carman\, Associate Professor of the Department of Health and Physical Education at the Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) has worked with JCI Queensway and held a press conference to present findings from our collaborative research study about the physical activity (PA) engagement and preferences of wheelchair users in Hong Kong\, as well as their perceived PA facilitators and barriers. \n\n\n\nResults of these studies showed that only 5.3% of 151 interviewed wheelchair users met the World Health Organization’s physical activity recommendations (2020)\, which advise engaging in at least 150 to 300 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic physical activity each week. More than one-third (37.1%) of wheelchair users hadn’t engaged in any moderate-intensity physical activities over the course of a week. SUMMARY:Future of Smart Automation – HPE’s Academic Visit to Peking University under the “Ten Thousand People Plan”
DESCRIPTION:The Department of Health and Physical Education (HPE) at The Education University of Hong Kong was honored to be invited by the Department of PE at Peking University to participate in a seven-day academic visit to Peking University from 26 October to 1 November 2025 which was supported by the “Ten Thousand People Plan” (萬人計劃) under the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China. The visit was led by Prof. Amy HA\, Dr. Gary CHOW\, Dr. Claudia WONG and Dr. ZHENG Chen\, with 20 students actively engaged in the trip. \n\n\n\nRepresentatives from HPE and Department of PE\, Peking University\n\n\n\nAn opening ceremony was held on the morning of 27 October to officially inaugurate the academic visit. \n\n\n\n\nRepresentatives from HPE and Department of PE\, Peking University\n\n\n\n\nOver the last week\, HPE representatives participated in various activities organized by Peking University\, including observing the training of high-level athletic teams and engaging in in-depth exchanges with experts to share valuable insights and experiences. \n\n\n\nHPE representatives observed the training of Basketball Team\, Peking University\n\n\n\nHPE representatives observed the training of Football Team\, Peking University\n\n\n\nHPE representatives participated in the lesson for adventure training\n\n\n\nA key highlight was HPE’s participation in the “第十屆北大人文體育高層論壇—智動未來：AI時代的人文體育精神”\, hosted by the Department of PE\, Peking University. During the forum\, Prof. HA delivered a keynote speech alongside several distinguished experts from Chinese Mainland universities\, and engaged in a roundtable discussion on “高水平運動員人才培養模式新探索”. During the subsequent sub-forum sessions\, three HPE staff members\, Dr. Gary CHOW\, Dr. Claudia WONG and Dr. ZHENG CHEN\, as well as two PhD students\, Mr KONG Yu Hin and Ms Jaclyn TSANG\, presented their research on the topic “AI賦能：運動與身心健康促進”\, receiving recognition from peers. \n\n\n\nProf. Amy HA\, Head of Department\, HPE delivered a keynote speech (Photo: Peking University)\n\n\n\nThis visit not only strengthened the academic connections in the field of sports between universities of Hong Kong and Chinese Mainland\, but also provided a solid foundation for future collaboration in research development. SUMMARY:Student Field Experience: Visit to the Hong Kong Sports Institute
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Louie Hung-tak Lobo\, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Health and Physical Education\, led a group of 40 students on 12 November in an invaluable visit to the Hong Kong Sports Institute (HKSI)\, Hong Kong’s flagship elite training facility. This excursion was designed to bridge the gap between academic theory and world-class sporting practice\, offering a rare glimpse into the ecosystem that produces world champions. \n\n\n\nOur students observed the cutting-edge application of sports science\, from biomechanics labs\, sports nutrition kitchen and physiological testing to advanced recovery facilities. They engaged with professional coaches and sports scientists\, gaining first-hand insight into periodization planning\, technique analysis\, and the holistic athlete development model. Witnessing elite athletes in dedicated training provided students a powerful and real-time case study on peak performance\, talent management\, and the psychological resilience required at the highest level. This visit was a profound inspiration\, moving beyond textbook learning to showcase the tangible career pathways in sports science\, coaching\, and high-performance management. It underscored the critical role of a scientific and supportive infrastructure in athletic excellence\, leaving the students with a renewed passion for their potential future professions.

SUMMARY:Seminar on Major Sports Event: Organisation of a Major International Sports Event in Hong Kong
DESCRIPTION:To further support EdUHK runners in their preparation for the upcoming Hong Kong Marathon 2026\, the Department of Health and Physical Education is set to host a series of activities including workshops and seminar on marathon in November. Distinguished speakers will share practical tips on the training recovery and mental preparation for distance running and the organisation of major sports events. \n\n\n\nThe inaugural seminar on “Organisation of a Major International Sports Event in Hong Kong” was successfully held on 17 November 2025 at EdUHK. \n\n\n\nThe event featured Mr Kwan Kee\, Chairman of the Hong Kong\, China Association of Athletics Affiliates\, as the guest speaker. In this insightful talk\, Mr Kwan shared his extensive expertise in organising large-scale international sports events. DESCRIPTION:The HPE Learning and Teaching Seminar 2025/26\, “Health Education and Promotion: Train the Trainer Program in Cambodia “\, was successfully conducted on 18 Nov 2025. \n\n\n\nDr. OR Pui Lai\, Peggy shared the fruitful outcomes of the “Train the Trainer Program”\, which aimed to transfer protocol\, assessment skills and teaching materials for hand hygiene and infection control to undergraduate nursing students of Cambodia\, so that these trainers could in turn educate secondary school pupils on such issues. \n\n\n\nThe project team led by Peggy adopted not only face-to-face teaching mode for the program but also technology for delivering online sessions\, and extended the “Train the trainer” practice to physical education lessons with the participation of students of Bachelor of Education (Honours) (Physical Education) programme. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDr Peggy Or shared her valuable experience of “Train the Trainer” program with the staff and students at the University.

DESCRIPTION:Further to the inaugural seminar on the organisation of large-scale sports event held on 17 November\, the Department of Health and Physical Education is pleased to offer a subsequent workshop on 19 November titled “Beyond Physical Training: Managing the Mental Marathon Before\, During\, and After Race Day” to support runners in their preparation for the 2026 Hong Kong Marathon\, focusing not only on physical training but also on mental resilience and emotional well-being. \n\n\n\nThe workshop\, led by Dr. WONG Ming Yu\, Claudia\, Assistant Professor of the Department\, attracted numerous runners and sports enthusiasts. Dr. Claudia WONG shared practical psychological strategies on building confidence and managing anxiety before the race\, and adopting a proper mindset after the race to maintain motivation. SUMMARY:Honorary Professor Shen Jinkang Visits the Department and Delivers Lecture on Sports Coaching
DESCRIPTION:On November 25\, 2025\, the Department of Health and Physical Education was honored to have had Professor Shen Jinkang (沈金康)\, Honorary Professor of The Education University of Hong Kong and former Head Coach of the Hong Kong Cycling Team\, to visit the Department and deliver a guest lecture to students of the Master of Social Sciences in Sports Coaching and Management programme. Before the lecture\, Prof. Shen met with Head of Department Prof. HA Sau Ching\, Amy\, Associate Professor Dr. SUN Fenghua and Lecturer Mr. SIU Ka Man\, and exchanged ideas with the Department’s research and teaching team on topics such as elite athlete development\, training monitoring\, and performance assessment. The discussion also explored the latest applications and future development of sports science in coach education and high-performance training. \n\n\n\nThe lecture\, titled “The Application of Sports Science in Elite Athlete Training”\, integrated both theoretical perspectives and practical insights\, offering students valuable professional knowledge. Drawing upon his extensive coaching experience and decades of field-based expertise\, Prof. Shen provided an in-depth analysis of several key issues closely related to high-performance athlete development\, including: \n\n\n\n\nThe current issues and future development of competitive sports management in China\n\n\n\nHow sports science can be applied in daily training to enhance athlete performance\, illustrated with practical examples\n\n\n\nTrends in competitive sports development observed from the National Games\n\n\n\nProfessional recommendations for coaches and sports practitioners\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe lecture received enthusiastic responses from the students\, who commented that Prof. Shen’s insights were both highly comprehensible and relevant\, bridging theory and practice and offering them significant guidance in academic pursuit and future career development. DESCRIPTION:Prof. Liu Xinmin\, Vice Chairman of the National Technical Committee on Standardization of Laboratory Animals\, Director of the Branch of Food and Medicine Homology Industry of the Chinese Nutrition Society\, and Chief Scientist at the Institute of Drug Discovery Technology\, Ningbo University\, delivered a lecture on “Ginseng as Supplement – Strategies for Maintaining Physical and Mental Health” in his visit on 8 January 2026 to the Department of Health and Physical Education at The Education University of Hong Kong. \n\n\n\nProf. Liu elaborated his recent research findings on the potential benefits of ginseng and ginsenosides in enhancing concentration\, improving physical performance\, regulating stress hormones\, and supporting overall well-being and healthy aging. SUMMARY:Department of Health and Physical Education Unites for the Hong Kong Marathon Promoting Sports Development and Advancing Physical and Health Education
DESCRIPTION:In support of the Hong Kong Marathon\, the Department of Health and Physical Education (HPE) at The Education University of Hong Kong organised and participated in a wide range of marathon-related activities before and after the race. Through professional outreach and active involvement in the race\, the Department showcased its expertise and strong community spirit in advancing physical education\, health education and sport science. On 15 and 17 January\, Professor Ha Sau-ching Amy\, Chair Professor of Physical Education and Sports Science and Head of the Department\, and Dr Louie Hung-tak Lobo\, Senior Lecturer\, were invited by the marathon organiser to deliver thematic seminars on sports for the public and runners. SUMMARY:Nissin Foods Elite Athletes Scholarship Award Ceremony 2025/26
DESCRIPTION:The Nissin Foods Scholarship Presentation Ceremony 2025/26 was held on 27 January 2026 to award scholarships to elite athlete-students from the Department of Health and Physical Education (HPE) at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) who strive for excellence in their studies while continuing to excel in their sporting performance. The scholarship will cover full yearly tuition fees of the recipients\, allowing them to focus on their studies without worrying about financial burden. For the fourth consecutive year\, Nissin Foods (Hong Kong) Charity Fund (“Charity Fund”) continued its support to the outstanding students enrolled in the Bachelor of Health Education (Honours) Programme (BHE)\, Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Sports Science and Coaching [BSc(SPSC)] Programme\, or the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) Programme (Major in PE) at EdUHK. The four new scholarship awardees in the 2025/26 academic year are MOK Pak Fan Logan (triathlon) and WONG Pak Yiu Anson (triathlon)\, Year 1 students of BSc(SPSC); HO Kin Yiu Yoyo (volleyball) and YAN Nuo Norah (shuttlecock)\, Year 1 students of PGDE-PE. The three awardees receiving renewed scholarship are CHEN Pak Hong\, Jaden (rowing)\, LAU Joseph (cycling) and CHOI Kwan Lok (cycling\, retired) from BHE. Prof. CHAN Che Hin\, Chetwyn\, Vice President (Research and Development) of EdUHK\, sincerely thanked the Nissin Foods Charity Fund for its generous support to the University. He also praised the outstanding achievements of the students.
