SUMMARY:EdUHK Receives Generous Donation from FHKA in Support of Elite Athletes’ Dual Pathway
DESCRIPTION:Photo credit: EdUHK\n \nThe Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) received a generous donation of HK$2 million from the Friends of Hong Kong Association (FHKA) on 2 December in support of the University’s Elite Athlete Friendly University (EAFU) Fund\, a scheme established to promote the dual career pathway for local athletes and to foster the sustainable development of local sports. The donation ceremony was attended by FHKA President Dr Henry Tang Ying-yen\, Vice-Presidents Professor Anthony Wu Ting-yuk and Mr Ng Leung-ho\, Vice-President and Secretary Dr Tam Kam-kau\, Vice-President Dr Eliza Chan Ching-har\, Executive Director Mr Lu Fu; and EdUHK Council members and staff. EdUHK President Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung gave a presentation on the University’s latest development\, before joining Council Chairman Dr David Wong Yau-kar in receiving the donation cheque.\n \n\n(from left) Wong Kam Po\, Lee Ka Man\, Chiu Hin Chun\, Au Chun Ming\, Cheng Kwok Fai\, Lee Chun Ho\n\n \n\nThe ceremony also saw the appointment of four elite athletes as the EAFU Ambassadors\, namely squash player Leo Au Chun-ming\, windsurfer Cheng Kwok-fai; and rowers Chiu Hin-chun and Lee Ka-man. This is in addition to last year’s appointment of former World Champion cyclist Wong Kam-po and Hong Kong karate team member Lee Chun-ho as EAFU Ambassadors\, who are expected to become role models\, committed to promoting local athletes’ whole-person development.\n \n\n\n\n\nClick here for more details

SUMMARY:BEd(PE) & BSc(SPSC) - 3rd & 4th Popular Programmes at EdUHK Selected by Students for JUPAS Band A
DESCRIPTION:Hong Kong’s universities released information about the popular programmes selected by students for Band A (top three JUPAS choices) this year on 9 December 2021. Bachelor of Education (Honours) (Physical Education) and Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Sports Science and Coaching were the third and the fourth popular programmes respectively at the Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK).  Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Sports Science and Coaching [BSc(SPSC)] is a new UGC-funded bachelor’s degree programme at the EdUHK. The programme aims to prepare competent sports science and coaching professionals. It equips students with essential knowledge and technology in sports science\, coaching and performance with practical experience. The programme will also address the urgent community and market needs of improving personal performance and health by providing guidance and advice through active participation in physical activity\, exercise\, or sports.  BSc(SPSC) will transform students into professional coaches through the following iconic features:\n\nThe internship training opportunities in overseas\, renowned Greater Bay Area and Hong Kong sports organizations will provide a great chance for students to have a dialogue with sports leaders\, build connections\, enrich knowledge and skills\, and lay a good foundation for the future careers;\nInnovative integration of the subject knowledge of sports science\, coaching\, technology\, and life education provides comprehensive training leading to a wide range of career paths; and\nTeaching cutting-edge knowledge by a professional team with leading roles in the sports and life education fields allows students to keep ahead of peers and seize opportunities\, striving for success and excellence in the academic field(s) and workplace.\n\nStudents are prepared for a wide range of careers in the sports industries\, including the commercial sector (e.g. cardiac rehabilitation advisor\, exercise rehabilitation advisor\, injury prevention consultant\, occupational health & safety consultant\, personal trainer\, sports coach\, sports event planner\, sports marketing consultant\, sports media specialist\, business coach\, etc.) and public sector (e.g. exercise physiologist\, outdoor campsite development officer\, physical and exercise activity programmers\, life coach\, etc.). SUMMARY:RTHK Interview Chung Pui Ki on Road to be a Football Athlete & Dual Career Pathway
DESCRIPTION:The RTHK has interviewed Chung Pui Ki Vicky\, a female football athlete and the Year 1 student of Bachelor of Health Education (Honours) Programme on her sport development and dual career pathway. She is the first batch of athlete-students from Hong Kong Athletes Career & Education Programme (HKACEP) admitted into EdUHK after signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with The Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong\, China (SF&OC) on 8 January 2021\, while EdUHK is the first local university to establish such a collaboration with HKACEP. Vicky shared that she now had a clear goal to complete a bachelor programme. She was so glad to get an offer from the University through the special admission scheme under the MOU with HKACEP and EdUHK. She not only could concentrate on sport training\, competitions and coaching\, but also could enhance her academic level supported with the flexible study arrangement.
