SUMMARY:“Online Consultation Cabinet” Helps SEN students to Face the Pandemic
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe COVID-19 outbreak has disrupted the daily lives of school children and made it more difficult for students with special educational needs (SEN) to adapt. Mr Roy Chan\, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Health and Physical Education\, EdUHK\, worried that the pandemic affects SEN students’ emotional health\, so at the end of February\, he established the “Online Consultation Cabinet” to provide emotional support for SEN students. More than 100 primary and secondary school students and their families have benefited so far. \nInspired by remote medical consultation\, Mr Chan and his students conducted one-on-one interviews with SEN students through “Observation\, Auscultation\, Interrogation and Action” (modified from Observation\, Auscultation\, Interrogation and Palpation in Chinese medicine) to understand their physical and mental condition. He shared useful information about the pandemic and taught them home exercise and mindfulness activities. \nThe one-on-one interviews can help to gain deeper understanding of the difficulties that SEN families encountered during the pandemic and provide adequate support. In case of serious emotional distress cases\, they can also be referred for follow-up. \nFor more details\, please visit: \nOn.cc: 擔憂SEN生難應對疫情　教大講師設「網上百子櫃」遙距支援TOPick: 【提早暑假】教大為SEN學生提供線上情緒支援服務　教簡單居家運動Bastille Post: 教大推「網上百子櫃」支援特教生HKCD: 染疫學者創「網上百子櫃」支援SEN學童Sing Tao: 教大推「網上百子櫃」支援特教生Ming Pao: 活動推介：線上居家運動 支援SEN孩子 \n\n
