DESCRIPTION:Four elite athlete-students (Bachelor of Health Education (Honours)) delivered an outstanding performance at the 2026 UCI Track World Cup held in Perth\, Australia\, from March 6 to 8. On the opening day\, Lee Sze Wing impressed with a decisive late surge in the women’s elimination race\, defeating the Australian rider to secure her first-ever World Cup bronze medal. She continued her strong form in women’s omnium\, maintaining consistency across four events. With a total of 117 points\, she earned a second bronze medal in this competition. In the men’s team pursuit\, Ng Pak Hang\, Tso Kai Kwong\, and Mow Ching Yin\, alongside with their teammates Chu Tsun Wai and Ma Yik Fei\, advanced to the final after defeating Chinese Taipei in the semi-final. DESCRIPTION:Our current elite athlete-student Ng Tsz Yau (Bachelor of Health Education (Honours)) shone at the “SBH Singapore International Challenge 2026”. Partnering with Chan Yin Chak in the badminton mixed doubles event\, they defeated teams from India\, Malaysia\, Thailand and then staged a comeback to beat the Korean duo 2:1 in the semifinals. The final was held on March 1\, where Ng Tsz Yau and her partner faced the second-seeded Japanese duo. They led briefly in the opening game but ultimately fell short\, losing 0:2. Despite the setback\, the pair grabbed their first-ever mixed doubles silver medal in this tournament. They won the first game 11:9 against Brazilian opponents but were unable to sustain their advantage in the later stages\, eventually losing 1:3. SUMMARY:EdUHK Honors Athletes of the 15th National Games with Scholarships
DESCRIPTION:The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) proudly hosted the “Celebration and Recognition Ceremony of the Achievements of EdUHK Athletes at the 15th National Games” on February 26 at the New Academic Building to honour student athletes and alumni who took part in the event. The University presented the “Elite Athlete Scholarship” and certificates of recognition to acknowledge participants’ outstanding achievements in the national competition. Fifteen student athletes and alumni\, representing disciplines such as cycling\, volleyball\, rowing\, handball\, and martial arts\, attended the ceremony. Among them were gold medalists Lee Sze-wing (Bachelor of Health Education (Honours))\, Leung Wing-yee (Bachelor of Health Education (Honours))\, Cado Lee Ka-to (Master of Social Sciences in Sports Coaching and Management)\, and Wang Liuyi (Doctor of Education (Chinese))\, whose victories brought pride to the University. During the ceremony\, athletes shared their experiences\, reflecting on the challenges of intensive training and the determination required to succeed. DESCRIPTION:Four elite athlete-students (Bachelor of Health Education (Honours)) delivered an outstanding performance at the Asian Road Cycling Championships 2026 held in Saudi Arabia from February 5 to 11. On the opening day\, Leung Wing Yee won the silver medal in the Women’s Individual Time Trial by completing the 20 km race in 26 minutes and 13 seconds. On the third day of competition\, Wing Yee joined forces with Lee Sze Wing\, Lau Wan Yau and Ng Pak Hang\, alongside other teammates\, in the Mixed Team Relay.  The team clinched the gold medal by finishing 31.6 km in 37 minutes\, 58.27 seconds\, defeating the three times champions Kazakhstan. This victory marks Hong Kong’s first-ever gold in the Mixed Team Relay event. SUMMARY:[Sun Hung Kai & Co. Around the Island Race 2025] EdUHK Elite Athlete-Student Asgar Kikabhoy Wins Windsurfing Category
DESCRIPTION:The Sun Hung Kai & Co. Around the Island Race 2025\, the largest annual sailing event in Hong Kong organized by the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club\, was held last Saturday (13 December) at Victoria Harbour. The event attracted around 230 teams and nearly 1\,700 local and overseas competitors\, creating a vibrant and highly competitive atmosphere. \n\n\n\nOur elite athlete-student\, Asgar Kikabhoy (Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Sports Science and Coaching)\, represented the Hong Kong\, China Windsurfing Team to compete in the windsurfing category\, which has been reinstated after a 22-year hiatus. Asgar delivered an outstanding performance and claimed the category championship\, finishing just 41 seconds ahead of his teammate. With the windsurfing category reinstated this year\, Asgar conducted in-depth studies of the coastal features of Hong Kong Island and wind forecasts prior to the race\, and undertook targeted physical training to build endurance required for long-distance competition. DESCRIPTION:The Badminton World Federation (BWF) held the inaugural “BWF AirBadminton World Cup 2025” from 11 to 14 December 2025 at Khor Fakkan Beach\, located on the east of the third-largest city Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates. This landmark event brought together elite athletes from 12 countries and regions worldwide\, showcasing the innovative appeal of outdoor badminton. \n\n\n\nOur elite athlete-student Yuen Sin Ying (graduate of Bachelor of Health Education and Master of Social Sciences in Sports Coaching and Management) represented Hong Kong\, China in the Women’s Triples event\, collaborating seamlessly with her teammates to capture the bronze medal. Sin Ying and her teammates demonstrated exceptional skills throughout the competition. In the group stage\, they defeated Australia 3-0 and overcame China 3-2\, finishing top of the group to advance to the quarterfinals. They subsequently defeated Germany 3-1 in the quarterfinals to secure a spot in the semifinals. DESCRIPTION:The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) is holding its 2025 Graduation Ceremony on the Tai Po Campus between 19 and 22 November\, conferring degrees on more than 5\,700 graduates\, including 23 elite athlete students. \n\n\n\nTwo elite athlete graduates from the Department of Health and Physical Education (HPE)\, Doo Hoi-kem and Chan Yan-kit\, both graduates of the Bachelor of Health Education (Honours) programme\, have been appointed as EdUHK’s “Elite Athlete Friendly University” Ambassadors. The appointments recognize their outstanding accomplishments in both academic studies and high-performance sport. Drawing on their dual-pathway experiences at EdUHK\, the pair is expected to help advance the development of sports education. \n\n\n\nDoo Hoi-kem\, a representative of the Hong Kong\, China Table Tennis Team\, won bronze in the Women’s Team event at the 2020 Olympic Games. Chan Yan-kit\, Head Coach of the Hong Kong\, China Para Badminton Team\, led the team to a silver medal at the 2024 Paralympic Games. DESCRIPTION:The KCC PSA Challenge Cup 2025 was held from 29 September to 3 October at the Kowloon Cricket Club. Our elite athlete-student Fung Ching Hei (Bachelor of Health Education (Honours)) delivered an outstanding performance\, capturing the Women’s Champion title. \n\n\n\nAs the top seed in the women’s draw\, Ching Hei showcased consistency and composure throughout the tournament\, ultimately defeating her opponent 3–1 in the final to claim the championship. In the men’s final\, an all-Hong Kong battle took place. At the same event\, Chui Nga Man fought hard in the U23 Women’s Quadruple Sculls\, adding another silver medal for the Hong Kong team. The duo demonstrated outstanding teamwork in the Women’s 30km Madison race and captured a silver medal. \n\n\n\nThey made their move during the second sprint\, taking first place and earning 5 points. Midway through the race\, they successfully lapped the main group\, gaining an additional 20 points. In the final sprint\, they overtook the team from Henan to finish second. In the final match\, Leo delivered a dominant performance to defeat Chinese Taipei by a score of 73–52\, bringing home a prestigious international gold medal for Hong Kong\, China. \n\n\n\nThe Heyball format\, also known as “Zhong 8”\, is a hybrid of English and American pool styles\, gaining rapid popularity across Asia and recently expanding into international competitions. This victory marks a significant achievement for both Leo and the Hong Kong billiard sports community. Billiard sports have been officially included as a competition event in the 2030 Asian Games in Doha. The duo once again delivered outstanding performances on the international stage\, earning a total of one gold and three silver medals. \n\n\n\nOn the opening day\, Lee Sze Wing competed in the Women’s Elimination Race\, where she gave her all against her idol\, a top-tier local rider from the host nation\, and claimed a silver medal. \n\n\n\nThe second round of competition took place on Saturday\, 31 May\, Lee Sze Wing returned to the track for the Women’s Elite Elimination Race\, where she maintained a solid performance and secured another silver medal. Later that day\, Leung Wing Yee then shone in the Women’s Elite Scratch Race\, breaking away from the peloton to secure Hong Kong’s first gold medal of the competition. Lee Sze Wing also participated in the Women’s Points Race\, where she demonstrated strong form by winning three intermediate sprints in the first 60 laps\, tying for the lead with a top Japanese rider. Seeded third\, the Hong Kong duo advanced through the rounds by defeating teams from Singapore\, Algeria\, Brazil\, and Spain. In the semi-finals\, they faced the Japanese pair and narrowly missed out on the final\, losing 1–3. With a composed and confident performance\, she defeated her South Korean opponent in straight games—11:9\, 11:6\, 11:5—securing a crucial point for the Hong Kong team. \n\n\n\nWith a final match score of 4–1\, the Hong Kong team achieved a remarkable 11th consecutive championship title on home soil. DESCRIPTION:The 2025 Hong Kong International Track Cup cum 15th National Games Track Cycling Test Event took place at the Hong Kong Velodrome\, Tseung Kwan O\, from 19 to 21 April 2025. Our elite athlete-students delivered remarkable performances\, earning an impressive one gold\, one silver\, and four bronze medals across various elite-level events. \n\n\n\nOn Day 1 (19 April)\, Lee Sze Wing (Bachelor of Health Education (Honours)) secured a bronze medal in the Women’s Omnium with a total of 121 points. In the Men’s Elite Team Sprint\, Mok Tsz Chun (Bachelor of Health Education (Honours))\, together with teammates Yung Tsun Ho and To Cheuk Hei\, outpaced Team India to claim another bronze. Later that day\, Mow Ching Yin (Bachelor of Health Education (Honours)) delivered a strategic performance in the Men’s Elite Omnium\, earning a bronze medal following a strong finish in the final Points Race. On Day 2 (20 April)\, Lee Sze Wing added to her medal tally with a bronze in the Women’s Elite Elimination Race. In the Women’s Elite Madison\, Sze Wing partnered with Leung Wing Yee (Bachelor of Health Education (Honours)) to accumulate 16 points across seven of eight sprint rounds. The duo narrowly missed a podium finish by just four points\, placing fourth. Meanwhile\, Leung Bo Yee (a graduate of the Bachelor of Health Education (Honours)) teamed up with Yang Qianyu\, finishing in fifth place. The final day (21 April) brought even more success. Ng Pak Hang (Bachelor of Health Education (Honours)) clinched a gold medal in the Men’s Elite Scratch Race\, staging a powerful late-race surge to outperform competitors from Malaysia and Japan. In the Men’s Elite Madison\, Tso Kai Kwong (Bachelor of Health Education (Honours)) and Chu Chun Wai displayed determination and teamwork to finish in a respectable fourth place. Also on the final day\, Lee Sze Wing competed in the Women’s Elite Omnium. Despite being involved in a mid-race crash during the concluding Points Race\, she showed commendable resilience by rejoining the race and ultimately securing a silver medal with a total of 144 points. SUMMARY:[The Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn's Cup Women's Tour of Thailand] EdUHK Elite Athlete-Students (Cycling) Win Team Championship Title!
DESCRIPTION:Four elite athlete-students delivered an exceptional performance at the The Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Cup Women’s Tour of Thailand\, securing the 1st Team General Classification title. The winning squad featured Lee Sze Wing\, Leung Wing Yee\, Kwan Tsz Kwan\, all current Bachelor of Health Education (Honours) students\, along with graduate Leung Bo Yee. The event\, held in Thailand from March 31 to April 2\, 2025\, had the Hong Kong team competing in the three-stage women’s race alongside teammate Yang Qianyu. \n\n\n\nThroughout the competition\, the Hong Kong team demonstrated outstanding skill and teamwork. In the 87.9 km first stage\, Lee Sze Wing claimed second place\, setting a strong tone for the team. In the 105.5 km second stage\, the squad executed a well-coordinated strategy\, launching a collective attack in the final stretch to support Sze Wing\, who secured another runner-up finish. Their consistent performances ensured that the Hong Kong team maintained the overall lead for two consecutive stages. In the final stage\, the team launched a breakaway attack in the last 2 km\, successfully fending off the Thailand team. With a cumulative time of 19 hours\, 43 minutes\, and 37 seconds\, they clinched the 1st Team General Classification title.
