SUMMARY:[SBH Singapore International Challenge 2026] Ng Tsz Yau won Silver in Mixed Doubles!
DESCRIPTION:Our current elite athlete-student Ng Tsz Yau (Bachelor of Health Education (Honours)) shone at the “SBH Singapore International Challenge 2026”. Partnering with Chan Yin Chak in the badminton mixed doubles event\, they defeated teams from India\, Malaysia\, Thailand and then staged a comeback to beat the Korean duo 2:1 in the semifinals. The final was held on March 1\, where Ng Tsz Yau and her partner faced the second-seeded Japanese duo. They led briefly in the opening game but ultimately fell short\, losing 0:2. Despite the setback\, the pair grabbed their first-ever mixed doubles silver medal in this tournament. DESCRIPTION:Our graduated elite athlete-student Doo Hoi Kem (Bachelor of Health Education (Honours)) delivered an outstanding performance at the WWT Singapore Smash 2026. Partnering with Wong Chun Ting\, the duo defeated the world No. 5 Spanish pair 3:0 in the quarterfinals to advance. The semifinals took place on February 26. They won the first game 11:9 against Brazilian opponents but were unable to sustain their advantage in the later stages\, eventually losing 1:3. SUMMARY:EdUHK Honors Athletes of the 15th National Games with Scholarships
DESCRIPTION:The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) proudly hosted the “Celebration and Recognition Ceremony of the Achievements of EdUHK Athletes at the 15th National Games” on February 26 at the New Academic Building to honour student athletes and alumni who took part in the event. The University presented the “Elite Athlete Scholarship” and certificates of recognition to acknowledge participants’ outstanding achievements in the national competition. Fifteen student athletes and alumni\, representing disciplines such as cycling\, volleyball\, rowing\, handball\, and martial arts\, attended the ceremony. Among them were gold medalists Lee Sze-wing (Bachelor of Health Education (Honours))\, Leung Wing-yee (Bachelor of Health Education (Honours))\, Cado Lee Ka-to (Master of Social Sciences in Sports Coaching and Management)\, and Wang Liuyi (Doctor of Education (Chinese))\, whose victories brought pride to the University. During the ceremony\, athletes shared their experiences\, reflecting on the challenges of intensive training and the determination required to succeed. SUMMARY:Department Hosted Tea Reception to Connect with Internship and Field Experience Partners
DESCRIPTION:On 6 February 2026\, the Department of Health and Physical Education (HPE) hosted a Tea Reception to foster meaningful collaborations and knowledge exchange between the Department and valued partners in internship and Field Experience. The event provided an excellent platform for all parties to share insights and collectively explore innovative approaches for nurturing the next generation of educational professionals. More than 50 principals and teachers from local primary and secondary schools\, along with representatives from internship partner organizations\, enthusiastically discussed strategies to provide high-quality internships and experiential experiences to students. With active participation of the partners\, valuable insights and tips were shared with students\, aiming to cultivate caring students and future educators with outstanding professional qualities\, thereby contributing to the sustainable development of Hong Kong and the international community. The Department is also honored to have two long-standing partners\, member of Sha Tin District Council and graduates of Bachelor of Health Education (Honours)\, Mr. Yeung Ying Hon\, and awardee of the Chief Executive’s Award for Teaching Excellence (Physical Education Key Learning Area)\, Mr. Lai Ho Ki\, to share their unique experiences on internships. SUMMARY:[Asian Road Cycling Championships 2026] EdUHK Elite Athlete-Students win Gold and Silver!
DESCRIPTION:Four elite athlete-students (Bachelor of Health Education (Honours)) delivered an outstanding performance at the Asian Road Cycling Championships 2026 held in Saudi Arabia from February 5 to 11. On the opening day\, Leung Wing Yee won the silver medal in the Women’s Individual Time Trial by completing the 20 km race in 26 minutes and 13 seconds. On the third day of competition\, Wing Yee joined forces with Lee Sze Wing\, Lau Wan Yau and Ng Pak Hang\, alongside other teammates\, in the Mixed Team Relay.  The team clinched the gold medal by finishing 31.6 km in 37 minutes\, 58.27 seconds\, defeating the three times champions Kazakhstan. This victory marks Hong Kong’s first-ever gold in the Mixed Team Relay event. SUMMARY:Nissin Foods Elite Athletes Scholarship Award Ceremony 2025/26
DESCRIPTION:The Nissin Foods Scholarship Presentation Ceremony 2025/26 was held on 27 January 2026 to award scholarships to elite athlete-students from the Department of Health and Physical Education (HPE) at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) who strive for excellence in their studies while continuing to excel in their sporting performance. The scholarship will cover full yearly tuition fees of the recipients\, allowing them to focus on their studies without worrying about financial burden. For the fourth consecutive year\, Nissin Foods (Hong Kong) Charity Fund (“Charity Fund”) continued its support to the outstanding students enrolled in the Bachelor of Health Education (Honours) Programme (BHE)\, Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Sports Science and Coaching [BSc(SPSC)] Programme\, or the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) Programme (Major in PE) at EdUHK. The four new scholarship awardees in the 2025/26 academic year are MOK Pak Fan Logan (triathlon) and WONG Pak Yiu Anson (triathlon)\, Year 1 students of BSc(SPSC); HO Kin Yiu Yoyo (volleyball) and YAN Nuo Norah (shuttlecock)\, Year 1 students of PGDE-PE. The three awardees receiving renewed scholarship are CHEN Pak Hong\, Jaden (rowing)\, LAU Joseph (cycling) and CHOI Kwan Lok (cycling\, retired) from BHE. Prof. CHAN Che Hin\, Chetwyn\, Vice President (Research and Development) of EdUHK\, sincerely thanked the Nissin Foods Charity Fund for its generous support to the University. He also praised the outstanding achievements of the students. SUMMARY:Department of Health and Physical Education Unites for the Hong Kong Marathon Promoting Sports Development and Advancing Physical and Health Education
DESCRIPTION:In support of the Hong Kong Marathon\, the Department of Health and Physical Education (HPE) at The Education University of Hong Kong organised and participated in a wide range of marathon-related activities before and after the race. Through professional outreach and active involvement in the race\, the Department showcased its expertise and strong community spirit in advancing physical education\, health education and sport science. On 15 and 17 January\, Professor Ha Sau-ching Amy\, Chair Professor of Physical Education and Sports Science and Head of the Department\, and Dr Louie Hung-tak Lobo\, Senior Lecturer\, were invited by the marathon organiser to deliver thematic seminars on sports for the public and runners. DESCRIPTION:Prof. Liu Xinmin\, Vice Chairman of the National Technical Committee on Standardization of Laboratory Animals\, Director of the Branch of Food and Medicine Homology Industry of the Chinese Nutrition Society\, and Chief Scientist at the Institute of Drug Discovery Technology\, Ningbo University\, delivered a lecture on “Ginseng as Supplement – Strategies for Maintaining Physical and Mental Health” in his visit on 8 January 2026 to the Department of Health and Physical Education at The Education University of Hong Kong. Prof. Liu elaborated his recent research findings on the potential benefits of ginseng and ginsenosides in enhancing concentration\, improving physical performance\, regulating stress hormones\, and supporting overall well-being and healthy aging.
