SUMMARY:[WTT Contender Taiyuan 2026] Doo Hoi Kem Claims Two Silver!
DESCRIPTION:Our graduated elite athlete-student Doo Hoi Kem (Bachelor of Health Education (Honours)) delivered an outstanding performance at the WTT Contender Taiyuan 2026\, advancing to the finals in both Mixed Doubles and Women’s Doubles\, and ultimately securing two silver medals. \n\n\n\nIn the Mixed Doubles event held on 11 April\, Doo Hoi Kem partnered with Wong Chun Ting progressed smoothly through the rounds\, defeating pairs from Luxembourg and Singapore along the way. In the final\, the Hong Kong duo fought back strongly after falling behind\, demonstrating strong teamwork and mental resilience. Despite their efforts\, they were eventually defeated 1–3\, securing the silver medal.  \n\n\n\nThe following day\, Doo Hoi Kem teamed up with Ng Wing Lam in the Women’s Doubles competition. The newly formed duo once again delivered an impressive performance\, playing proactively against the Chinese opponents in the final. Although they ultimately suffered a 1–3 defeat\, they successfully claimed the silver medal. SUMMARY:[2026 Asian Rowing Cup] EdUHK Student-athletes and Graduates win Three Golds\, One Silver and One Bronze!
DESCRIPTION:The 2026 Asian Rowing Cup took place from 24 to 26 April in Chungju\, South Korea. Six elite athlete-students and graduates delivered outstanding performances\, bringing home three golds\, one silver and one bronze medals. \n\n\n\nChiu Hin Chun (Master of Social Sciences in Sports Coaching and Management) defeated the Kazakhstani opponent to secure the gold medal in the Men’s Lightweight Single Sculls. He completed the 2\,000-metre race in 7 minutes 34.226 seconds. \n\n\n\nFour elite athlete-students studying in the Bachelor of Health Education (Honours) also performed exceptionally well. In the Men’s Lightweight Double Sculls\, Chan Tik Lun and Wong Ching\, clocked an impressive time of 6 minutes 59.731 seconds\, to win another gold medal. Chan Chi Fung also reached the podium in the Men’s Single Sculls\, earning a bronze medal. DESCRIPTION:Our current elite athlete-student Lee Sze Wing (Bachelor of Health Education (Honours)) delivered an outstanding performance at the 2026 UCI Track World Cup – Hong Kong\, China\, clinching the silver medal in the women’s elimination race. \n\n\n\nThe event took place on 17 April. Lee Sze Wing advanced steadily through the early rounds. Despite encountering intense pressure midway through the race\, she fought back with determination to secure her position\, eventually winning silver after a close contest with a Norwegian rider. \n\n\n\nThis silver medal marks a significant milestone in Sze Wing’s cycling career\, winning her first-ever World Cup medal on home soil\, making the achievement especially meaningful. SUMMARY:HPE Deepens Global Connection through Academic Exchange in Singapore
DESCRIPTION:The Department of Health and Physical Education (HPE) visited the Nanyang Technological University (NTU)\, the National University of Singapore (NUS)\, and several distinguished institutions in Singapore for an academic exchange from 27 to 29 April 2026. The visit was led by Prof. Amy HA\, with members of the Department including Dr. SUN Fenghua\, Dr. Carman LEUNG\, Dr. JIANG Shan\, Dr. Johan NG\, Dr. Claudia WONG and Dr. ZHENG Chen\, who were sincerely received by our Singaporean collaborators. A warm welcome from Dr. KEE Ying Hwa Adrian\, Head of the Physical Education and Sports Science Department (PESS)\, and his colleagues marked the beginning of our exchange on April 27. The HPE team received a comprehensive tour of the National Institute of Education (NIE) campus\, followed by a fruitful discussion on ideas related to academic programs exchange and cutting-edge research initiatives. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWarm welcome by Dr. KEE Ying Hwa Adrian (5th from left)\, Dr. Swarup MUKHERJEE (4th from left)\, Dr. KONG Pui Wah Veni\, (4th from right)\, and Dr. TEO Wei-Peng (5th from right)\, Physical Education and Sports Science Department\, Nanyang Technological University\n\n\n\n\nThe following day featured an engaging meeting with Professor Falk Müller-Riemenschneider and researchers of PANDA Team at the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health\, NUS. The discussion primarily centers on meaningful exchanges on public health and physical activity promotion\, with particular emphasis on sharing and developing research ideas among team members. \n\n\n\nHPE team with Professor Falk Müller-Riemenschneider (4th from left\, top row) and PANDA Team researchers\, Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health\, National University of Singapore\n\n\n\nThe visit to Hwa Chong Institution (華僑中學) provided a closer look at the integration of Physical Education and Co-Curricular Activities (PE & CCA) within a holistic education framework. The academic exchange concluded with a visit to the Singapore Wushu Dragon & Lion Dance Federation\, where the HPE team observed a training session of the Singapore Wushu National Team\, highlighting the excellence in elite athlete preparation and the preservation of cultural sporting traditions. \n\n\n\nHPE team with Wushu team\, Hwa Chong Institution\n\n\n\nThe visit strengthened academic and professional ties between HPE and leading universities and institutes in Singapore. It also broadened the Department’s understanding of diverse approaches to physical education\, public health\, and athletic training. We look forward to fostering closer collaboration and building sustainable partnerships with esteemed partners in Singapore.
