DESCRIPTION:The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China announced the 2026 Honours List on July 1. Two elite athlete-students Lee Sze Wing and Leung Wing Yee\, both studying the Bachelor of Health Education (Honours) programme at The Education University of Hong Kong\, were awarded an honour and a commendation respectively in recognition of their outstanding achievements and contributions to the development of sports in Hong Kong. \nHong Kong cycling team member Lee Sze Wing was awarded the Medal of Honour (MH) in recognition of her exceptional achievements in competitive sports. Her historic performance at the recent National Games held in November 2025\, where she became the first Hong Kong athlete to secure three gold medals in a single edition\, earned her this prestigious recognition. \nLeung Wing Yee\, also a member of the cycling team\, was honored with the Chief Executive’s Commendation for Community Service. This award recognizes her dedication and success at the National Games\, where she partnered with Lee Sze Wing to clinch gold in the Women’s Madison event. \nBoth athletes exemplify the success of pursuing the ‘dual-career’ pathway\, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to both academic excellence and world-class sporting performance. DESCRIPTION:Our elite athlete-student Michelle Yeung (Bachelor of Health Education (Honours)) delivered an outstanding performance at the “IWUF 4th Taolu World Cup” held in Haikou\, China from 4 to 9 July 2026\, bringing home one gold and two bronze medals.  \n\n\n\nThe World Cup brought together over 200 wushu athletes from 29 countries and regions. Michelle Yeung excelled across multiple events\, first claiming the gold medal in the Women’s Changquan event with an impressive performance\, then adding a bronze medal in the Women’s Daoshu event before clinching another bronze in the Women’s Duilian event alongside her teammate Lydia Sham Hui Yu. Her overall tally of one gold and two bronze medals marked a highly remarkable achievement on the world stage. DESCRIPTION:Two elite athlete-students (Bachelor of Health Education (Honours)) performed exceptionally at the “6 Days Pordenone” cycling event held in Italy from 13 to 18 July\, winning one silver and one bronze medal. \n\n\n\nIn the Women’s Elite 50-Lap Points Race\, Lee Sze Wing successfully made breakaways in multiple sprint laps and finished the race with 19 points\, narrowly missing the gold with just one point behind the American rider and claimed the silver medal. \n\n\n\nShe then teamed up with Leung Wing Yee in the Women’s Madison Race. Although the pair did not score in the opening stages of the race\, they mounted a strong comeback\, finishing behind the Italian and Japanese pairs to secure the bronze medal. SUMMARY:HPE Programme Experiential Day 2026
DESCRIPTION:The Department of Health and Physical Education (HPE) successfully hosted the HPE Programme Experiential Day on 27 June 2026\, which provided prospective students\, along with their teachers and parents\, with valuable insights into the undergraduate programmes offered by the Department.  \n\n\n\nThe event allowed participants to explore various aspects of the programmes through hands-on activities and practical sessions\, ranging from laboratory tests at the Human Performance Laboratory to taster lessons on Karate\, Rugby\, Strength and Conditioning\, Table Tennis\, Mobility Stick\, Tchoukball\, and Indoor Rowing. Attendees gained first-hand experience of the Department’s dynamic learning environment and diverse curriculum. \n\n\n\n(Photo of students participating in indoor rowing practical lesson)\n\n\n\nThe Department was honoured to have several current and former Hong Kong elite athletes conduct the trial lessons\, including Ms. Lee Ho Ching\, current member of the Hong Kong China Women’s Table Tennis Team; Ms. Chan Ka Man\, former member of the Hong Kong China Karatedo Team; and Mr. Yong Chi-fung\, former member of the Hong Kong China Men’s Rugby 7s Team and former Head Coach of the Hong Kong China Women’s Rugby 7s Team. \n\n\n\nTheir professional guidance and fruitful sharing provided participants with valuable and enjoyable learning experiences\, highlighting the event’s major goal. SUMMARY:[WTT Star Contender São José dos Campos 2026] Doo Hoi Kem Claims One Silver and One Bronze!
DESCRIPTION:Our graduated elite athlete-student Doo Hoi Kem (Bachelor of Health Education (Honours)) delivered an impressive performance at the “WTT Star Contender São José dos Campos 2026”\, securing a silver medal in Women’s Doubles and a bronze medal in Mixed Double \n\n\n\nIn the Women’s Doubles final held on 25 July\, Doo Hoi Kem partnered with Ng Wing Lam to take on the tournament’s third-seeded Japanese pair. Despite their determined effort\, they were defeated 0-3 in the final and finished with a commendable silver medal.  Doo Hoi Kem then teamed up with Wong Chun Ting in the Mixed Doubles event. The pair put up a strong fight in the semi-finals but lost to the Japanese team. Although they fell short of reaching the final\, they secured a bronze medal in the event.
