SUMMARY:HPE’s 4-week Exchange Programme to East China Normal University
DESCRIPTION:The Department of Health and Physical Education (HPE) was honoured to partner with the College of Physical Education and Health at East China Normal University to organise a four-week exchange programme from 17 May to 14 June 2026. The exchange programme was led by Prof. Amy HA\, Mr. Roy CHAN and Dr. Claudia WONG\, with 18 HPE students embarking on the journey. \n\n\n\nA warm welcome from Ms. HUANG Lanlan (Party Secretary)\, Prof. WANG Xiaozan (Dean) and their colleagues from the College of Physical Education and Health marked the beginning of the exchange programme on 18 May.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRepresentatives from HPE and College of PE and Health\, East China Normal University\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDuring the opening ceremony\, Prof. Amy HA said she really looked forward to the exchange programme and introduced the distinctive features and talent development approach of the HPE department. She encouraged HPE students to broaden their horizons\, strengthen mutual understanding\, and build lasting friendships through the exchange programme.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProf. Amy HA\, Head of Department\, HPE\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOver the last week\, HPE students participated in various activities organized by East China Normal University\, enabling them to gain deeper understanding of the traditional Chinese culture and the development of physical education in the Chinese Mainland.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn the coming weeks\, HPE students will participate in a wide range of activities\, including lectures\, workshops\, local visits and other practical sessions\, to gain further insights into the East China Normal University. Through these experiences\, students will further broaden their academic and cultural perspectives\, and learn from diverse approaches to sports education and health development.We hope that HPE students will not only develop precious memories\, but also gain professional insights throughout the four weeks. We look forward to fostering closer collaboration and deepening our partnership with the College of Physical Education\, East China Normal University.

DESCRIPTION:Our graduated elite athlete-student Doo Hoi Kem (Bachelor of Health Education (Honours)) performed well at the “WTT Contender Zagreb 2026” and won gold in the mixed doubles event partnering with Wong Chun Ting. The duo defeated formidable opponents from Korea and Great Britain\, and also teammates from Hong Kong\, to advance. The final took place on June 14\, where the top seeded duo faced strong Japanese pair and fell behind in the first two games. They responded by picking up their tempo and completed a remarkable comeback victory of 3:2\, securing their second championship title of 2026. DESCRIPTION:Two EdUHK elite athlete-students and graduates delivered outstanding performances at the 2026 WT President’s Cup Oceania and the 2026 Australian Open\, both held in the Gold Coast\, Australia. They captured one gold\, one silver and three bronze medals across the two international competitions. \n\n\n\nAt the 2026 WT President’s Cup Oceania\, held from 18 to 19 June\, Lui Ching Nam (graduate of Bachelor of Health Education (Honours)) competed alongside teammates in the Men’s U30 Team event. They consistently demonstrated excellent teamwork to claim the gold medal. Meanwhile\, Chan Ka Yi (current student of the Bachelor of Education (Honours) (Physical Education)) secured a bronze medal in the Women’s U30 Individual event. She then partnered with teammate in the Mixed Pair U30 event\, adding a silver medal to her tally. \n\n\n\nIn the 2026 Australian Open held from 20 to 21 June\, both EdUHK elite athletes continued their strong performances and once again reached the podium. Chan Ka Yi earned another bronze medal in the Women’s U30 Individual event. Lui Ching Nam also showcased his consistent form by winning a bronze medal in the Men’s U30 Individual Event. \n\n\n\nTheir outstanding performances also contributed significantly to Team Hong Kong\, China’s success in securing the Overall Poomsae Champion title at both competitions. SUMMARY:[2026 Hong Kong National Road Championships] EdUHK Elite Athlete-Students win Three Gold\, Three Silver and One Bronze!
DESCRIPTION:Five elite athlete-students (Bachelor of Health Education (Honours)) performed exceptionally at the “2026 Hong Kong National Road Championships” held from June 20 to 21\, claiming an impressive total of three gold medals\, three silver medals and one bronze medal. \n\n\n\nThe Individual Time Trial was held on Bride’s Pool Road in Tai Po on the opening day of the Championships. In the Women’s Elite category\, Lee Sze Wing finished the 15km race in 21 minutes 51.362 seconds\, successfully defending her title and becoming the first female cyclist in Hong Kong to break the 22-minute mark of this course. Leung Wing Yee completed in 22 minutes 24.451 seconds to claim silver. In the Men’s Elite category\, Lau Wan Yau Vincent secured a silver medal with a finishing time of 19 minutes 48.233 seconds. \n\n\n\nThe Individual Road Race took place the following day on Tin Ying Road in Tin Shui Wai. In the Women’s Elite race\, Lee Sze Wing and Leung Wing Yee launched a successful breakaway midway through the competition and maintained their lead to the end. Sze Wing crossed the finish line first in 1 hour 47 minutes 35 seconds to claim her second gold medal\, while Wing Yee followed closely behind to take silver. DESCRIPTION:The international rowing competition “2026 Koninklijke-Holland Beker” took place from June 20 to 21 in Amsterdam. Four elite athlete-students and graduates of The Education University of Hong Kong delivered outstanding performances\, bringing home one gold and one silver medals. Macau Open Badminton 2026”\, part of the HSBC BWF World Tour Super 300. Ng Tsz Yau partnered with Chan Yin Chak in the badminton mixed doubles event\, defeating three pairs of Thai components\, and the fourth-seeded Chinese pair to reach their first-ever BWF World Tour Super 300 final. \n\n\n\nThe final was held on June 21\, where the duo faced the Chinese pair currently ranked second in the world. The duo gave their all against the opponent\, ultimately fell short\, losing 0:2. Despite the loss\, the duo secured the silver medal\, achieving the best result so far in high-level tournaments since their partnership. The gathering offered colleagues a chance to reflect on the year’s achievements and to recognize the dedication and contributions of members of the Department. \n\n\n\nThe occasion also marked the retirement of Professor Cheng Sheung Tak. The Department sincerely thanks for Professor Cheng’s many years service and his valuable contributions to the Department. We wish him a happy and fulfilling retirement. \n\n\n\nDr. Anna Wong will also be leaving the Department to pursue further studies. DESCRIPTION:The “2026 World Rowing Cup III” took place from 26 to 28 June in Lucerne\, Switzerland. Three elite athlete-students and graduates brought home one gold and one silver medal with outstanding performances. \n\n\n\nChiu Hin Chun\, currently pursuing a Master of Social Sciences in Sports Coaching and Management\, triumphed in the Men’s Lightweight Single Sculls. He completed the race in 7 minutes 1.98 seconds\, defeating rival from the Netherlands by almost three seconds to reclaim the World Cup gold medal in Lucerne since his last victory in the same event in 2024. \n\n\n\nIn the Men’s Lightweight Double Sculls\, Chan Tik Lun\, a current student in the Bachelor of Health Education (Honours) programme\, teamed up with Lam San Tung\, a graduate of the same programme.
