The Departmental Learning and Teaching Committee (DLTC) of HPE successfully conducted the Learning and Teaching Seminar (L&T) titled \u201cResearch-Informed Teaching \u2013 Light Volleyball in Older Adults and People with Physical Disabilities\u201d on 14 May 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at this second L&T seminar in academic year 2025\/26, Associate Professor Dr LEUNG Ka Man, Carman, explained how her experience as a former professional volleyball player inspired initiatives on the adaptation of light volleyball for older populations and the development of sitting light volleyball to accommodate the needs of people with physical disabilities (PWPD), which subsequently led her to secure two related Research Impact Fund (RIF) grants for examining the health benefits of these sports on the targeted populations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Based on the successful experience of the two RIF projects, Dr Leung further adopted the evidence-based practices to inform curriculum design, class activities, and community engagement strategies in teaching. In the Q&A session, participants engaged in lively discussions on obtaining RIF grants, the practical challenges of conducting light volleyball matches, and whether a related individual course could be further developed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
