SUMMARY:Professor Sheung-Tak Cheng speaks at World Dementia Council Summit
DESCRIPTION:Professor Sheung-Tak Cheng is Chair Professor of Psychology and Gerontology at HPE. Being the brain health expert with focus on dementia care\, Professor Cheng was invited to give a talk and participate in the prestigious World Dementia Council Summit on 5 Dec 2018. The World Dementia Council was established during the G8 (now G7) Summit in 2013. He was invited in his capacity as Emeritus Member of the Global Council on Brain Health which issued the first global guideline on participation in cognitively stimulating activities and brain health (published in five languages\, namely English\, Chinese\, Spanish\, French\, and Latin)\, and to contribute to an “Asia-global dialogue” about key issues. He was the only Asian speaker invited\, other than representatives from Japan which is a G7 country.  The World Dementia Council Summit puts dementia on the international agenda\, sets goals\, and commits global leaders to collective action to meet this significant health challenge. At the Brain Health and Public Policy Challenge panel\, Professor Cheng delivered a talk on the challenges of defeating dementia by 2025 and discussed important international policy priorities.  The event was widely covered by media around the world. Participants included eminent scientists around the world\, ministers from UK\, Netherlands\, and Japan government; CEOs and officials from OECD\, World Health Organization\, Alzheimer’s Association\, Alzheimer’s Society\, national Institute of Mental Health\, and National Institute on Aging; as well as David Cameroon (former UK prime minister) and Maria Shriver (former First Lady of California and award-winning journalist and media personality). The level of discourse by these distinguished participants leading to a roadmap to defeating dementia by 2025 was unparalleled. Professor Cheng was grateful to HPE to be given time to attend the meeting.  For detail: https://iconnect.eduhk.hk/issue71/article_22.htm \n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n

They completed 10 km runnung in RunOurCity held on 12 January\, 2020.  With the company of EdUHK students’\, all of them completed within 56 minutes and broke their personal record. Our students’ shared\, (Sharing are written in Chinese)\n\n\n \n李卓謙（運動科學 – 三年級）\n \n\n\n‘這個活動令我學會如何與自閉症人士相處及有關的教學技巧。 \n\n\n

SUMMARY:Gold Medal from Chiu Hin Chun at Hong Kong Around the Island - Coastal Rowing Race
DESCRIPTION:Chiu Hin Chun (Chun)\, the elite athlete-student of Bachelor of Health Education (Honours)\, has won the gold medal at Hong Kong Around the Island – Rowing Double Sculls (CMix2x)\, with his partner Claire Susan Burley on 15th November 2020. The race was signified by the long distance (45 km) and a scenic race course along the coastline of Hong Kong Island\, with metropolitan skyline on the one side and the tranquil nature on the other side. Chun hoped that this Coastal Rowing Race could be a warm up to prepare for the Olympic Qualification held next year\, as he had not participated any competitions for nearly an year under COVID-19.  We believe that Chun can keep at this top performance and pass the Qualification successfully!\n \n\nPhoto Captured from sportsroad.hk (Left Chiu Hin Chun)\n
