SUMMARY:What’s happened to me? – COVID-19 storybook launched
DESCRIPTION: \n\nHPE collaborated with the Hong Kong Infection Control Nurses’ Association (HKICNA) to develop the third series of What’s happened to me\, which focuses on COVID-19.\nThe picture book\, which is available in English and Chinese\, is designed for parents or teachers to read aloud with children of all ages. During the storytelling\, the parents or teachers can guide children to learn more about coronavirus and personal hygiene\, and get simple tips on how to prevent the disease in their daily lives. Another novel feature of the book is the inclusion of a mask folder for children to learn how to take care of their used face mask in a hygienic way. \nTo complement the publication of the What’s happened to me? book series\, the publisher organised a virtual book launch on 18 July. Dr. OR Pui Lai\, Peggy\, Assistant Professor at HPE\, and Ms Patricia Ching from HKICNA\, shared their professional advice on infection-control measures\, and pointed out that this picture book series is the first-ever children’s publication on infection-control education. SUMMARY:Fusion of Entertainment and Sport
DESCRIPTION:Ms Tamara Moore\, Director of Live Entertainment & Retail Marketing of the Memphis Grizzlies\, an NBA team\, was invited by the Department of Health and Physical Education to share her management experience with students in the Master of Social Sciences in Sports Coaching and Management programme via Zoom on 13 October 2020. Ms Moore worked for the NBA and an NBA team for over 20 years. Formerly choreographer and entertainment team manager of the Grizzlies and NBA\, she is now responsible for producing in-game content and overseeing development and content for entertainment assets for the Grizzlies.\n \n\n \n\n \n\n\n \nIn her guest lecture on “Live Entertainment in the Sports Field”\, Ms Moore started by sharing her story on how she began working in the NBA and subsequently at the team level for the Memphis Grizzlies as the choreographer of the Grizz Girls (the cheerleading team of Memphis Grizzlies) and then in her current position\, as well as serving as in-arena emcee.  The student participants gained insights into the entertainment aspects of professional sport. Ms Moore guided them through all the entertainment elements and concluded the lecture by advising the students to use the network they build throughout their lives\, not to be afraid to try new things\, to keep an open heart and mind\, to focus on their passion\, to invest in themselves\, and not to hesitate to ask for help.\n \n\n\n\n\nClick here for full article

SUMMARY:Gold Medal from Chiu Hin Chun at Hong Kong Around the Island - Coastal Rowing Race
DESCRIPTION:Chiu Hin Chun (Chun)\, the elite athlete-student of Bachelor of Health Education (Honours)\, has won the gold medal at Hong Kong Around the Island – Rowing Double Sculls (CMix2x)\, with his partner Claire Susan Burley on 15th November 2020. SUMMARY:EdUHK Annual Cross Country Race to promote inclusiveness
DESCRIPTION:As lined up by CO\, HK01\, HKET\, Ming Pao\, Apple Daily\, Commercial Daily and Sports Road reported that the EdUHK Annual Cross Country Race went virtual this year due to the epidemic. Participants had before 29 November to record and upload their miles through a mobile application with no restrictions on time and venue. Led by karate athlete Mr Lee Chun-ho\, ambassador for the “Elite Athlete Friendly University”\, more than 160 EdUHK faculty members and students together with more than 30 people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) finished a 6\,304km marathon. Karate Hong Kong team representative Lee Chun-ho led EdUHK faculty members and people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to complete the race\, raising public awareness and understanding of ASD. Mr. CHAN Ching Yat\, Roy\, Senior Lecturer at the HPE\, said that repetitive behavior is one of the most common symptoms of autism people\, and as running is also a repetitive sport\, people with ASD may find it easier to pick up. DESCRIPTION:Principal and Teachers from Free Methodist Mei Lam Primary School with EdUHK Teacher (Third from the left) and Students (Three on the right)\n \n\nStudent competed in Standing High Jump\n\n \n \n\nHK01 reported that Free Methodist Mei Lam Primary School co-organized a two-week Virtual Sports Day with the Department of Health and Physical Education at EdUHK from 22 February – 5 March 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic. \nThis virtual Sports Day aimed to instill sports knowledge in primary school students and helped students develop the habit of regular exercise. Considering the infection control measures\, venue and time\, 3 competition items had been arranged for this virtual Sports Day: Standing Long Jump\, Standing High Jump and High Knees in 30s. The result of all items were measured and calculated with the help of mobile applications\, which not only enhanced the fun but also saved a lot of time and effort for equipment and staff arrangement. \n\n \n\n \n\nThe EdUHK Organizing Committee members demonstrated the proper gesture of the competition items and also explained the use of the Applications before the competition began. During the event\, EdUHK students guided each “little athletes” from the side to make them perform better. Mr Chiu Hin-chun\, an elite rower and current student of the Bachelor of Health Education (Honours) Programme\, joined some of the matches to instruct students and gave excellent demonstrations of the three sports items. With the encouragement and guidance of all EdUHK students\, every “little athletes” had their fun in this Virtual Sports Day. They learnt different sports techniques and enjoyed the fun of sports. DESCRIPTION:(from left) Doo Hoi Kem and Lee Ho Ching\n	        \n\nHong Kong’s women’s table tennis team has won the historic BRONZE medal at team event in Olympic Games. The team of the two Elite Athlete-students from Bachelor of Health Education (Honours) – Doo Hoi Kem and Lee Ho Ching with another Hong Kong team member\, Minnie Soo Wai Yam won 3-1 against Germany’s team. Their tremendous effort\, perseverance and resilience finally paid off in Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games!  We wish them the very best in their continued endeavors in their sports career and academic studies under the dual pathway that the University pioneer in collaboration with the Hong Kong Sports Institute. We all are so proud of them! To find the latest news\, please click here.
