EdUHK signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Cycling Association of Hong Kong, China Limited (CAHK) on April 19, 2024, to encourage healthy and safe exercising habits and further develop the sport and its culture in Hong Kong. The pair will collaborate to promote cycling, including the development of a \u2018Train the Trainer Programme\u2019 to enable EdUHK students to acquire knowledge and skills in teaching cycling and also to deepen public awareness of safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The course provided systematic training in coaching methodologies, safety knowledge, and technical cycling skills. It covered essential topics by experienced instructors, such as cycling regulations, legal responsibilities, and practical coaching techniques. The course was successfully completed and received positive feedback. The participants are further strengthening Hong Kong\u2019s cycling education and talent development. Following the success of this programme, EdUHK and CAHK are exploring opportunities for future collaborations to expand cycling education and coaching pathways in Hong Kong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis coach training course was comprehensive, covering areas such as cycling techniques, teaching methods, and safety knowledge, which deepened my understanding and confidence in becoming a cycling coach. The instructor\u2019s professional guidance and practical exercises made me realize that to be a successful cycling coach, not only a passion for or expertise in cycling, but also a solid foundation in sports science, an understanding of the development of cycling in Hong Kong, awareness of the legal responsibilities of a coach, and a passion for teaching and a sense of mission. Only with these qualities can one become an outstanding and professional cycling coach.\u201d
