On 26 November 2024, we welcomed Honorary Professor Shen Jinkang (沈金康), former head coach of the Hong Kong Cycling Team, to deliver a guest lecture titled “The Application of Sports Science in Elite Athlete Training” to students in the Master of Social Sciences in Sports Coaching and Management programme. Professor Shen was recently conferred an Honorary Professorship by EdUHK in recognition of his outstanding contributions to elite sports coaching and development.

During the lecture, Professor Shen explored critical topics, including:

The current state and future development of competitive sports management in China

Sports science in daily training to enhance athletic performance

The application of technology to accurately predict athletes’ performance

Practical advice for coaches and sports professionals

The session was met with great enthusiasm from the students, who found Professor Shen’s insights deeply inspiring and relevant to their studies and future careers. A lively Q&A session followed, where students had the opportunity to seek guidance on various aspects of elite sports training and management. We are immensely grateful for Professor Shen’s engagement and hope to invite him back for more lectures in the future.
