The World Table Tennis Star Contender Bangkok 2024 was held from July 2 to 7 in Bangkok, Thailand. Two students in Bachelor of Health Education (Honours), Doo Hoi Kem and Lee Ho Ching, delivered outstanding performances. Doo Hoi Kem partnered with Wong Chun Ting in the Mixed Doubles event and advanced to the Finals but ultimately lost to the solid Japanese pair, Tomokazu Harimoto and Hina Hayata, with a score of 1-3, securing the Silver Medal. Additionally, Doo Hoi Kem and Lee Ho Ching competed in the Women’s Doubles event. Unfortunately, they were defeated by the Korean duo Shin Yubin and Jeon Jihee in the Semi-Finals. They won the Bronze Medal with another Hong Kong Women’s Doubles duo, Zhu Chengzhu and Ng Wing Nam. This tournament was the last event for the Hong Kong team before the Paris Olympics, which has boosted their confidence and motivation for the upcoming Olympic journey.
