EdUHK Elite Athlete-students Lee Sze Wing and Leung Wing Yee Conferred Honour and Commendation by the Government of the HKSAR

July 1 All day

The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China announced the 2026 Honours List on July 1. Two elite athlete-students Lee Sze Wing and Leung Wing Yee, both studying the Bachelor of Health Education (Honours) programme at The Education University of Hong Kong, were awarded an honour and a commendation respectively in recognition of their outstanding achievements and contributions to the development of sports in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong cycling team member Lee Sze Wing was awarded the Medal of Honour (MH) in recognition of her exceptional achievements in competitive sports. Her historic performance at the recent National Games held in November 2025, where she became the first Hong Kong athlete to secure three gold medals in a single edition, earned her this prestigious recognition.

Leung Wing Yee, also a member of the cycling team, was honored with the Chief Executive’s Commendation for Community Service. This award recognizes her dedication and success at the National Games, where she partnered with Lee Sze Wing to clinch gold in the Women’s Madison event.

Both athletes exemplify the success of pursuing the ‘dual-career’ pathway, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to both academic excellence and world-class sporting performance. We wish them continued success in their future athletic and academic endeavors.
