From 5 to 7 May, the Department of Health and Physical Education (HPE) was delighted to host Professor Melody Ding from the University of Sydney. As a Professor of Public Health and Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Physical Activity and Health, Professor Ding brought a wealth of expertise to our department, helping us further our goal of building stronger international research ties. |

A series of research activities conducted by the Visiting Professor Walter Herzog, University of Calgary, was conducted at the Department of Health and Physical Education (HPE) during 11–13 May 2026. |

The Departmental Learning and Teaching Committee (DLTC) of HPE successfully conducted the Learning and Teaching Seminar (L&T) titled “Research-Informed Teaching – Light Volleyball in Older Adults and People with Physical Disabilities” on 14 May 2026. 
Three elite athlete-students (Bachelor of Health Education (Honours)) performed exceptionally at the 2026 Japan Track Cup held in Izu, Japan from 14 to 17 May, bringing home one silver and five bronze medals. |

The Department of Health and Physical Education (HPE) was honoured to partner with the College of Physical Education and Health at East China Normal University to organise a four-week exchange programme from 17 May to 14 June 2026. The exchange programme was led by Prof. Amy HA, Mr. Roy CHAN and Dr. Claudia WONG, with 18 HPE students embarking on the journey. |

Our graduated elite athlete-student Lui Ching Nam (Bachelor of Health Education (Honours)) shone at the “2026 Asian Taekwondo Poomsae Championships”, claiming a bronze medal in the Men’s U30 Team event alongside his teammates. |

Five elite athlete-students (Bachelor of Health Education (Honours)) shone at the “2026 Hong Kong Track Cycling National Championships” held at the Whitehead Cycling Centre in Ma On Shan from May 22 to 23. The team showcased exceptional strength across multiple events and secured a total of five gold, three silver, and one bronze medals. |

Three elite athlete-students and graduates including Fung Ching Hei and Lam Shing Fung (both studying the Bachelor of Health Education (Honours)) together with Chung Yat Long (graduate of the same programme) achieved remarkable success at the “17th East Asian Squash Championships” by defending Team Hong Kong’s champion. 
The “2026 World Rowing Cup I” took place from May 29 to 31 in Seville, Spain. Six elite athlete-students and graduates of The Education University of Hong Kong delivered outstanding performances, bringing home two gold and one silver medals. Among the athletes, Chan Tik Lun, Chen Pak Hong and Wong Ching are current students of the Bachelor of Health Education (Honours) programme, while Lam San Tung and Leung Wing Wun are graduates of the same programme. Chiu Hin Chun is currently pursuing a Master of Social Sciences in Sports Coaching and Management. |
