Professor Joanne Chung's Research Project Featured on HKFEW
Hong Kong Federation of Education Workers (HKFEW) ran a special feature on EdUHK's innovative projects. The research project of Prof. CHUNG Wai Yee, Joanne, Chair Professor at the Department of Health and Physical Education, and Dr Henry So Chi-fuk at the Department of Mathematics and Information Technology, on a wearable hand strap for emotion assessment by using HRV as a biomarker is featured on HKFEW.

[運動科學] 拔河識排陣,扯贏大隻佬
【明報專訊】健康與體育學系助理教授 周志清博士 從運動科學角度,分析拔河的原理。周博士分別用「靜態」和「動態」來解釋拔河的靜力動作和肌力動作。他指肌力動作屬動態動作,向後步行時透過髖、膝、踝關節的屈伸來產生力量。至於靜力動作時身體雖然保持靜態,但其實也會使用肌肉力量,透過收縮全身肌肉,固定各關節以保持姿勢穩固。

As lined up by the Commuincation Office, EdUHK, local dailies reported that EdUHK appointed the World Cycling Champion Mr Wong Kam-po and karate athlete Mr Lee Chun-ho as ambassadors for the “Elite Athlete Friendly University” to help promote the whole-person development of local athletes.

Dr. OR Pui Lai, Peggy, Assistant Professor of the Department of Health & Physical Education, who has been engaging in fencing for around four years, was quoted as saying that the main points of performing fencing lunge lie with the stability of the centre of gravity and the strong explosive power. She reminded that a skilled fencer will keep the footwork light and shift to avoid being detected by the opponents.

健康與體育學系與多間特殊學校及非牟利機構合作,推行 「Home Exercise for SEN」 計劃數月,反應熱烈。計劃透過Zoom直播教學,提供持續實時體育課堂,目的除了提升特殊學習需要(SEN)學童的體適能,也促進親子關係和同學之間的互動。

Elite athlete Ms Lee Ka-man spends more time on learning
Ta Kung reported that Hong Kong rower Ms Lee Ka-man, a year 1 student of the Master of Social Sciences in Sports Coaching and Management programme, said that apart from training, she can now spend more time catching up on the coursework during the self-isolation amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

[預防肺炎]居家伸展運動 助特殊人士改善柔軟度
In an RTHK’s programme, Mr. CHAN Ching Yat, Roy, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Health and Physical Education, shared tips for children with special education needs (SEN) to do exercise at home. Mr Chan suggested different exercises that can help improve the common physical weaknesses of SEN children facing different challenges.
