[15th National Games] EdUHK Elite Athlete-Students Shine with Five Gold Medals at the 15ᵗʰ National Games

Our elite athlete-students delivered outstanding performances at the 15ᵗʰ National Games (the Games), securing five gold medals in road and track cycling, rugby, and artistic swimming. Their achievements highlighted exceptional talent, determination, and teamwork.

The winning streak began on 9 November 2025, Lee Sze-wing, a student of the Bachelor of Health Education (Honours) programme, claimed gold in the Women’s Individual Road Cycling event. Demonstrating calm focus and remarkable endurance, she crossed the finish line first, earning Hong Kong’s second gold and EdUHK’s first at the Games.

On 14 November, the Hong Kong Men’s Rugby Sevens Team captured the gold medal in the final. Cado Lee Ka-to, a student of the Master of Social Sciences in Sports Coaching and Management programme, played as scrum-half and delivered an outstanding performance, combining excellent coordination with teammates throughout the match.

The success continued on 15 November, where Wang Liuyi and Wang Qianyi, both studying the Doctor of Education (Chinese) programme, won gold in the Women’s Duet (Technical Routine and Free Routine) of artistic swimming (formerly known as synchronised swimming). Achieving a total score of 585.98, the pair earned their first gold in a duet event at the Games.

On 16 November, our elite athlete-students excelled again in cycling. Lee Sze-wing and Leung Wing-yee, both studying the Bachelor of Health Education (Honours) programme, partnered to win gold in the Women’s Madison Track Cycling event. With seamless teamwork and steady strategy, they accumulated a total of 45 points, demonstrating both tactical acumen and collaborative skill.

The series of victories continued on 17 November, when Lee Sze-wing secured her third gold medal at the Games in the Women’s Omnium Track Cycling. Excelling across all four disciplines—scratch race, sprint, elimination race, and points race—she amassed a total of 124 points to take the championship title.
