The effort and innovation of our department is recognised in the 48th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva, one of the world’s most important events exclusively dedicated to inventions with participants from more than 42 countries and regions. HPE is delighted that the invention “Sitting Light Volleyball and Its Functional Sports Garment” has won the bronze medal at the expo.
This invention is led by the principal investigator , co-investigator , and fashion designer Miss Arto Wong. Sitting light volleyball is a new adapted physical activity that helps to promote the physical and mental health of people with physical disabilities. Throughout the research and experiments, the team identified the risks and limitations of this sport. This garment is thus invented to remove the limitations and movement restrictions that come with such sports. The invention will help and encourage further engagement in this sport by people with physical disabilities. Apart from gaining international recognition, a patent application was filed in Hong Kong and Mainland China as well.
