[Yonex Sunrise Vietnam International Challenge 2026] Ng Tsz Yau won Gold in Mixed Doubles!
March 24 March 29
Our current elite athlete-student Ng Tsz Yau (Bachelor of Health Education (Honours)) has continued her excellent form in the “Yonex Sunrise Vietnam International Challenge 2026” after winning the Mixed Doubles Silver Medal for Hong Kong at the Singapore International Badminton Challenge in early March.
Ng Tsz Yau partnered with Chan Yin Chak to deliver another outstanding performance throughout the competition. They defeated teams from Chinese Taipei, Malaysia, and the top-seeded Thai pair, before staging a remarkable comeback in the semi-finals to beat the Japanese duo 2:1 and advance to the final.
The final was held on 29 March, where Ng Tsz Yau and her partner faced another Japanese pair composed of the member of runners-up in the 2023 Asian Championships mixed doubles event and bronze medalist in the women’s doubles at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Both sides traded points closely in the early stages of the first game, but the Japanese female player later suffered an unfortunate knee injury and was forced to withdraw. The Hong Kong pair claimed their first championship title since teaming up.
