Six elite athlete-students (Bachelor of Health Education (Honours)) performed exceptionally at the Asian Track Cycling Continental Championships 2026 held in Tagaytay, Philippines from March 25 to 31, bringing home one gold, one silver and five bronze medals.
On the opening day, Lee Sze Wing, Leung Wing Yee, Leung Bo Yee, and Kwan Tsz Kwan finished the Women’s Elite Team Pursuit race in 4 minutes 23.332 seconds, gaining victory over the Korean team to secure Hong Kong’s first bronze medal in this competition. The result also broke the Hong Kong record previously set in the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou. On the same day, Mok Tsz Chun, alongside his teammates To Cheuk Hei and Yung Tsun Ho, joined forces in the Men’s Elite Team Sprint. Lee Sze Wing carried the winning momentum into the individual Elimination Race on the second race day, where she emerged as the last rider standing and clinched gold after prevailing over top riders from China, Japan, Korea, Uzbekistan, and other nations. She marked a career milestone by grabbing her first Asian championship title in the event. Sze Wing continued her strong form in the Women’s Omnium and secured 2 points in the final sprint lap to finish with 126 points, earning the silver medal despite once being caught up by the Korean rider.

On Day 4 of the competition, Leung Wing Yee competed in the Women’s Points Race. Although she was unable to maintain her lead in final stages, she finished with 34 points, securing a bronze medal. The next day, Leung Wing Yee and Lee Sze Wing paired up in Women’s Madison. The duo led at one point but ultimately finished behind China and Japan, taking home bronze with 31 points. In the Men’s Madison (200 laps, 50 km), Tso Kai Kwong partnered with Chu Tsun Wai. Despite missing points in the early stage, they delivered a strong fightback and scored consistently in later rounds, adding another bronze medal with a result of 65 points.

Congratulations to the Hong Kong team for winning one gold, one silver, and five bronze medals over the course of the championships, showcasing exceptional teamwork and indomitable spirit!
