The Department of Health and Physical Education (HPE) successfully organized the Water Safety Promotion Programme in Rural Areas of the Greater Bay Area in May 2024. Co-organized with the Hong Kong Swimming Teachers’ Association (HKSTA) and the Orphan Education Society Guangdong (OESG), the programme included three 5-day workshops in Xinyi City and Qianguancun. About 30 HPE students acted as the main or assistant swimming coach to teach more than 300 teenagers.Teaching content covered essential water safety knowledge, drowning prevention strategies, swimming techniques (breathing, floating, propulsion), and basic rescue skills. The programme aimed to address the lack of swimming and water safety education in rural areas, while helping HPE students apply their knowledge to benefit the community. |

Located inside GO PARK Sai Sha, GO PARK Sports is a diverse outdoor sports park. It collaborates with various sports associations, organizations, and schools to provide a platform for hosting sports-related activities and fostering sports culture of the community. Department of Health and Physical Education at The Education University of Hong Kong (HPE) is one of the partners of GO PARK Sports, offering valuable internship opportunities to HPE students to cultivate their professional development in various sports fields. Students will gain experience in organizing local and international sports events/ competitions throughout the internship period. This collaboration not only benefits the career development of the students but also promotes a diverse range of sports to people from different walks of life in Hong Kong, working together to nurture the sports culture in the society. |
