The IBD World Championships 2024 was held from May 18 to 31 in Ekurhuleni, South Africa. Our elite athlete, Kwok Wing (Bachelor of Health Education (Honours)), participated in the B2 Men’s Singles event and partnered with Li Chi Ming Rockey in the B3/B4 Mixed Pairs event. He performed well in both matches and eventually won two Silver Medals. Congrats to Kwok Wing on his sensational performance!

The World Table Tennis Contender Zagreb 2024 was held from June 3 to 9 in Zagreb, Croatia. Our elite athlete, Lee Ho Ching (Bachelor of Health Education (Honours)), teamed up with her partner Zhu Chengzhu in the Women's Doubles event and advanced to the semifinals. They defeated pairs from France and Poland/Slovakia in the group stage. Unfortunately, they were beaten by the South Korean pair Jeon Jihee and Joo Cheonhui in the semifinals. Ultimately, Lee Ho Ching and Zhu Chengzhu secured a Bronze Medal for the Hong Kong team in the Women's Doubles event. Congratulations to Ho Ching! |

The Asian Road Cycling Championships 2024 takes place in Almaty, Kazakhstan, from June 5 to 12. On the first day of the competition, 5 EdUHK Elite Athletes from the Bachelor of Health Education (Honours) programme, including Lau Wan Yau, Ng Pak Hung, Lee Sze Wing, Leung Wing Yee, and Leung Po Yee, partnered with Chu Tsun Wai, represented the Hong Kong cycling team and secured a bronze medal in the Mixed Team Time Trial event. The mixed team time trial on the first day covered two laps of 40 km. The Hong Kong team fielded Lau Wan Yau, Ng Pak Hung, and Chu Chun Wai for the men's group, while Lee Sze Wing, Leung Wing Yee, and Leung Po Yee competed in the women's group. They finished in 53 mins 15.377 s to win the Bronze Medal. The Uzbek team finished 36.389 s faster to take Silver, while the Gold Medal went to the host team, Kazakhstan, with a time of 51 mins 8.551 s. |

The 22nd Asian Team Championships (Squash) took place in Dalian, China, from June 12th to 16th. Hong Kong’s Men’s Squash Team, represented by Leung Chi Hin (Bachelor of Health Education (Honours) graduate), Wong Chi Him, Tang Ming Hong, and Lau Tsz Kwan, performed exceptionally well in the group stage and advanced to the finals. Leung Chi Hin showcased an outstanding performance in the Men's Team final against Malaysia. He played in the second match against Addeen Idrakie, coming from behind after losing the first game to win three consecutive games, ultimately securing a 3-1 victory. At one point, he tied the overall match score for the Hong Kong Team. Leung Chi Hin made a significant contribution during the tournament and won a Silver Medal for the team. |

The 2024 Asian University Wushu Championship was held in Harbin, China, from June 17 to 22, attracting nearly 400 athletes from 12 countries or regions. A total of 15 athletes representing Hong Kong, including three from The Education University of Hong Kong: Yeung Michelle and Yeung Debbie (Bachelor of Health Education (Honours)); and Lee Wing Yung (Bachelor of Education (Honours) (Physical Education)). Yeung Michelle won a Gold Medal in the Women’s Traditional Weapon event and a Bronze Medal in the Women’s Traditional Quanshu event. Lee Wing Yung won a Bronze Medal in the Women’s Optional Nanquan event. Yeung Debbie also participated in the Women’s Optional Taijijian event and finished in 7th Place. Their contributions to the Hong Kong team’s impressive performance of 5 Gold, 4 Silver, and 9 Bronze medals placed Hong Kong second overall. Congratulations to the EdUHK Wushu Athletes and the Hong Kong Team! |
