  • Promoting Proper Hygiene Education: Environmentally Friendly Plant-based Sanitary Napkins

    Dr. OR Pui Lai, Peggy, Assistant Professor of the Department of Health and Physical Education, combining scientific research results with education to promote the development of health and sex education for secondary school students. She worked with Mr Koo Ming Yan, Managing Director of Beauty Asia Investment Limted, to develop and set up vending machines for biodegradable plant-based sanitary napkins in Secondary Schools.

  • Elite Athlete Student Wishes to Build Career in Sports Management

    Ta Kung ran an interview with Miss He Jianxin, a member of the Hong Kong Junior Wushu Team, and a student of the Master of Social Sciences in Sports Coaching and Management programme on her recent updates amid the Covid-19 pandemic. She hopes to build a career in sports management and be able to manage a sports team after her study at EdUHK.

  • Dr Peggy Or Shares Tips on Fencing Lunge

    Dr. OR Pui Lai, Peggy, Assistant Professor of the Department of Health & Physical Education, who has been engaging in fencing for around four years, was quoted as saying that the main points of performing fencing lunge lie with the stability of the centre of gravity and the strong explosive power. She reminded that a skilled fencer will keep the footwork light and shift to avoid being detected by the opponents.

  • ‘Home Exercise for SEN’ programme – Elite Athletes promote exercising

    ODN reported that the Department of Health and Physical Education (HPE) had launched the “Home Exercise for SEN” programme in collaboration with a few special schools and non-government organisations, with an aim to improve the physical fitness of SEN children amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • Sports Council Launched Career Workshop for Prospective PE Teachers

    Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all schools have gone through a long suspension period, e-Teaching seems to become the main medium of education. To prepare for job interviews, the Department of Health and Physical Education, EdUHK has organised a series of online career workshop for the prospective PE teachers.

  • Elite athlete Ms Lee Ka-man spends more time on learning

    Ta Kung reported that Hong Kong rower Ms Lee Ka-man, a year 1 student of the Master of Social Sciences in Sports Coaching and Management programme, said that apart from training, she can now spend more time catching up on the coursework during the self-isolation amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

    Ms Sarah Lee Wai-sze, BBS, MH, Honorary Fellow of EdUHK, Graduate of Bachelor of Health Education (Honours), again scoops 3 more gold medals in Japan Track Cup on 23 – 25 August 2019, including two champions for Sprint and one gold for Keirin events.

  • Professor Sheung-Tak Cheng speaks at World Dementia Council Summit

    Professor Sheung-Tak Cheng is Chair Professor of Psychology and Gerontology at HPE. Being the brain health expert with focus on dementia care, Professor Cheng was invited to give a talk and participate in the prestigious World Dementia Council Summit on 5 Dec 2018. The World Dementia Council was established during the G8 (now G7) Summit in 2013. He was invited in his capacity as Emeritus Member of the Global Council on Brain Health which issued the first global guideline on participation in cognitively stimulating activities and brain health (published in five languages, namely English, Chinese, Spanish, French, and Latin), and to contribute to an “Asia-global dialogue” about key issues. He was the only Asian speaker invited, other than representatives from Japan which is a G7 country.
