HKIEd Healthy Cooking Competition to Promote Messages of Love, Health and Care in Community

Mar 20, 2014
The Faculty of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (FLASS) and the Bachelor of Health Education (Honours) Programme(BHE) co-organized a Healthy Cooking Competition, as a part of the Institute’s campaign to spread the messages of love, health and care to the community.

The competition was held on 20 March 2014 and aims to promote the generation of new ideas in healthy eating, adopting an integrative nutrition approach. It encourages HKIEd students to integrate Chinese and Western nutrition concepts to create nutritious new recipes that cater for dietary needs of school children. Winners will share their recipes with a group of school children with special needs, to share the joy of learning, cooking and healthy eating together.

Five teams were selected as finalists, namely The Healthy Wok, The Taste of Rainbow, The Natural Garden and its Nutritional Secrets, Sally’s Wealthy Stars, as well as Chefs of Fitness. The participating teams all finished cooking their dishes within 20 minutes, during which each team also presented their creative concepts as well as special features about the ingredients, delighting the audience with their lively presentations and cooking demonstrations.

In addition to the cooking competition, a dancing competition and a hair-cutting volunteering project will also be held in the coming months, both to show a sense of care towards society and to encourage the general public to enjoy a healthy lifestyle together.

Healthy Cooking Competition Results:
First Prize:         The Taste of Rainbow
Second Prize:   Sally’s Wealthy Stars
Third Prize:       The Natural Garden and its Nutritional Secrets
