Former Hong Kong beach volleyball athlete Miss Chung Wai Wa has published her new book “Ignite the Fighting Spirit – Who Says Dreams Never Come True?” last month, covering the stories of Hong Kong elite athletes’ perseverance and determination as well we their journeys in pursuing a dual career pathway in sports and studies. Two of the HPE students have been interviewed, including current professional football player Mr Yuen Ho-chun and squad member of the Hong Kong national rugby sevens team Mr Eric Kwok Pak-nga.
 
As the students of our undergraduate programmes, not only did they share their valuable experiences of training and the bittersweet struggle of being a full-time athlete, but they also highlight the importance of striking a balance between sports and studies, from which everyone that wishes to make sports as a vocation can take reference.
