Part A: Admissions Requirement
JUPAS applicants are normally required to possess the following qualifications:
.Level 3 or above in Chinese Language
.Level 3 or above in English Language
.Level 2 or above in Mathematics (Compulsory Part)
.Attained result in Citizenship and Social Development
.Level 2 or above in two elective subjects
Shortlisted applicants may be required to attend an interview.
Senior-year entry applicants are normally required to possess the following qualification:
.Having an Associate Degree in related disciplines from any recognized institutions; or
.Having a Higher Diploma in related disciplines from any recognized institutions
Applicants who possess equivalent qualifications will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Shortlisted applicants may be required to attend an interview.
Besides, applicants should also demonstrate an acceptable level of proficiency in both the Chinese and English languages, unless exempted by the University. For more details, please visit this website.
For JUPAS applicants, the University ONLY accepts the results in HKDSE English Language.
For Non-JUPAS applicants, the University accepts IELTS results. For more details, please visit this website.
Yes, the University accepts combined sittings in the HKDSE examination. For the purpose of ranking applicants for admission, all recognized public examination results are considered. If an applicant has taken the examination in a subject more than once, only the best result for that subject will be counted. There is no penalty on repeaters.
Yes. BSc(SPSC) programme does provide senior year admissions.
In accordance with the HKSAR Government’s policy, all non-local applicants, regardless of whether they possess HKDSE examination results, MUST apply for admissions via the non-JUPAS route, and NOT via JUPAS.

Part B: Interview
Yes, you are required to attend an admissions interview. Applicants who do not turn up for the interviews will not be considered for admissions.
For JUPAS applicants, we will select applicants for the admissions interview by considering their band choices, HKDSE examination results, information on the OEA (Other Experiences and Achievements in Competition / Activities) form and SRR (School Reference Report) etc. Please click here for the details of the interview arrangements.
For Non-JUPAS applicants, we will select applicants for the admissions interview by considering their AD/HD programmes, cGPA, English and Chinese Language proficiency and sports achievements etc.
What are the fomat of the admissions interview?
Applicants are recommended to:
.Make a comprehensive study/research on the curriculum and the career paths of BSc(SPSC) programme;
.Get yourself familiar with the programme, the University, the sports news of Hong Kong and the world, and the latest developments of the sports that you are interested in; and
.Do more mock interviews.

Part A: Admissions Requirement
Yes. Any applicants who are interested in teaching Physical Education can apply for the DD-BSc(SPSC)&BEd(PE) programme, even if he/she did not take PE in HKDSE .
The median JUPAS score (with heavier subject weighting) of the best five subjects for DD-BSc(SPSC)&BEd(PE) (2025 entry) is 22. Please visit EdUHK website at https://www.apply.eduhk.hk/ug/jupas_scores for more information.
The HKDSE subject of Physical Education (PE) will have a heavier subject weighting (x1.5) for admission score calculation.
Applicants who meet the University’s General Entrance Requirements for bachelor’s degree programme (please refer to https://www.apply.eduhk.hk/ug/jupas for details) and do well in interview would have a chance to be admitted into the programme.
Applicants who meet the University’s General Entrance Requirements for bachelor’s degree programme and select DD-BSc(SPSC)&BEd(PE) as their Band A choice in JUPAS will have higher priority to be selected for interview.
In 2025, there were around 2,500 JUPAS applicants applied for the BSc(SPSC)&BEd(PE) programme and the intake quota was 25.
Part B: Self-Nomination Admissions Scheme
There is no specific requirement for the number of years of sports experience. Applicants should make their own judgement and submit relevant supporting documents. The number of supporting documents varies depending on applicants’ sports experience.
No. Non-JUPAS applicants would be assessed by their relevant experience in the major subject, results of associate degree/higher diploma (if applicable) and interview performance.
The Self-Nomination Admissions Scheme allows applicants to nominate themselves, whereas the School Principal’s Nominations Scheme requires applicants to be recommended by their school principals. You may participate in both schemes, and it is recommended that you submit nominations for different programmes under each scheme to increase your chances of being invited for interviews across different programmes.
Applicants are required to complete all online application procedures, including uploading 1) the proofs of the achievements in sports; 2) a personal statement; and 3) recommendation letters from relevant clubs/associations/schools. For details, please visit https://www.apply.eduhk.hk/ug/selfnom.

For the DD-BSc(SPSC)&BEd(PE) programme, the EdUHK Self-Nomination Admissions Scheme is designed for JUPAS applicants who demonstrate exceptional potential and outstanding talent in sports. Applicants who excel in the interview(s) will be given high priority of admission, provided they also meet the specific entrance requirements of the University (E.g. 332A+22). Part C: Interview
In general, the Physical Fitness Test consists of 4 parts, including:
i) Sit-ups (1-minute);
ii) Pull-ups (Male) or Flexed Arm Hang (Female);
iii) Sit and Reach; and
iv) Swimming Test (25 metres front crawl and 25 meters breaststroke).

To be eligible for admission, applicants should:
- have obtained a Higher Diploma or Associate Degree in health/health-related disciplines or equivalent; or
- be registered teachers in kindergartens, primary, secondary or special schools; registered social workers; or registered nurse / enrolled nurse obtained a Higher Diploma; or
- have obtained a Certificate in Education, Certificate of the Teachers of Children with Special Educational Needs or equivalent; and
- be fluent in both written and spoken English.

The BHE programme is now open for applications for the new intake cohort. Please submit your application through the Online Application System (www.eduhk.hk/acadprog/online). Applications will be considered on a rolling basis, subject to the availability of space. Announcement of admission offers will start from November. You are therefore advised to apply as early as possible.
BHE graduates will be qualified to work as health promotion officers in elderly centres, community health educators, wellness coordinators in outpatient departments/clinics, etc. Graduates of the programme will also have the opportunity to do postgraduate study at the University through a variety of Master’s programmes. The University also offers Doctor of Education programme and PhD programme for doctoral study in the relevant specialties.
The BHE programme will not lead to a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). However, graduates who studied 5 skill-based courses during their studies in the BHE programme will be eligible to apply Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Primary) (Physical Education) [PGDE(P)(PE)] and Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Secondary) (Physical Education) [PGDE(S)(PE)] offered by EdUHK in order to obtain the QTS qualification.
This programme will not enable a graduate to become a practicing nurse in Hong Kong. However, graduates of the programme will have a wide range of employment opportunities, and will be able to compete for high-level positions.
