Technology helps disabled athletes improve their performances
In a contributed article to Sing Tao, Dr. LOUIE Hung Tak, Lobo discussed how technology has helped disabled athletes improve their performances, noting that experts so far have not yet reached a consensus on the controversy whether the technology has given disabled athletes an advantage over normal athletes in competitions.

Building a Safety Net for Helping Elite Athletes to Repick a “Dual Path Development Life”
In a contributed article to Ming Pao, Professor Stephen Chiu Wing-kai, Chair Professor of Sociology, Dr Gary Chow Chi-ching, Assistant Professor of Department of Health and Physical Education and Ms Samantha Liu Siu-man, Elite Athlete Development Officer cited the study by a Canadian scholar Jean Côte’ to discuss the three main paths for athletes to choose between training and study, and made four proposals for universities to provide assistances to elite athletes in their academic and career developments.

Most Valuable Athlete and Most Dedicated Athlete Award
In 2020/21, sports competitions had been suspended for a long period. In the beginning of the pandemic, USFHK adopted alternative arrangements for competitions at tertiary level yet it was still a tough and challenging year due to the widespread outbreak of COVID-19. The EdUHK Annual Prize Presentation Day was also forced to be cancelled this year to prevent the spread of infectious disease. However, to show our appreciation for the participation and efforts made by the coaches and the sport team members in such difficult times, HPE had distributed the E-certificates to honour the MVP and MDAA awardees of the USFHK sports competitions.

EdUHK promotes dual career pathways for athlete students

[Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games] Professor Stephen Cheung, President Congratulating Lee Wai Sze
Professor Stephen Cheung Yan Leung, President of EdUHK congratulates Sarah Lee Wai Sze, BBS, MH, Honorary Fellow of EdUHK, on winning the bronze medal in women’s track cycling sprint. She is the first Hong Kong athlete who has won medals at two Olympic Games.

Hong Kong’s women’s table tennis team has won the historic BRONZE medal at team event in Olympic Games. Professor Stephen Cheung Yan Leung, President of EdUHK, had a dialogue with the two Elite Athlete-students of EdUHK- Doo Hoi Kem and Lee Ho Ching for congratulating their outstanding performance via Zoom on 6 August 2021.

[Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games] Let’s clap for BHE athlete-students Doo Hoi Kem & Lee Ho Ching, the Table Tennis Bronze Medalists!!
Hong Kong’s women’s table tennis team has won the historic BRONZE medal at team event in Olympic Games. The team of the two Elite Athlete-students from Bachelor of Health Education (Honours) - Doo Hoi Kem and Lee Ho Ching with another Hong Kong team member, Minnie Soo Wai Yam won 3-1 against Germany’s team. Their tremendous effort, perseverance and resilience finally paid off in Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games! We wish them the very best in their continued endeavors in their sports career and academic studies under the dual pathway that the University pioneer in collaboration with the Hong Kong Sports Institute.

EdUHK Athlete-students in Tokyo Olympic Games 2021
Five students and a graduate of Bachelor of Health Education (Honours) programme at The Education University of Hong Kong will represent Hong Kong to join the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. They will be participating in four sports, competing for eight titles:

[USFHK] EdUHK Win 2nd Runner Up of Women’s Overall Championship 2020/21
The USFHK Annual Prize Presentation Ceremony was held on 11 July 2021. EdUHK won the 2nd runner up of the women's overall championship of the University Sports Federation of Hong Kong (USFHK) 2020/21. The student-athlete representatives were proud to bring the trophy to EdUHK.

1 Gold & 1 Silver medals from Lee Wai Sze In 2021 Tissot UCI Track Cycling Nations Cup!
2021 Tissot UCI Track Cycling Nations Cup (Hong Kong, China) has been completed at Hong Kong Velodrome on 16 May 2021. Ms Sarah Lee Wai-sze, BBS, MH, Honorary Fellow of EdUHK, Graduate of Bachelor of Health Education (Honours) won 1 gold medal and 1 silver medal in Women’s Sprint and Women’s Keirin respectively.
