  • [2023 Karate 1-Series A] – EdUHK Alumni & Students partnered for the Gold!

    The tournament held in Richmond, Vancouver, from 14 to 16 April 2023. Our alumni, Wu Lok Man (Master of Social Sciences in Sports Coaching and Management) partnered with the current student of EdUHK, Wong Sze Man (Bachelor of Science Education (Honours) in Sports Science), and Ma Ka Man, who participated in Female Team Kata. The group with the three Hong Kong athletes scored 41.3 points to overcome Team of Algeria (40.4 points) and France (39.2 points) for winning the Gold Medal.

  • [2023 Australian Rowing Championships] EdUHK Rowers with Remarkable Results in the International Championships

    The Hong Kong Rowing Team competed in the 2023 Australian Rowing Championships held at Champion Lakes in Perth, Australia, from 27 March to 2 April 2023. Our Elite Athletes from the EdUHK contributed their maximum effort, which leads them to multiple remarkable results. Chan Tik Lun (Bachelor of Health Education (Honours)) partnered with Ho Siu Wing won the gold medal in the men’s lightweight double sculls event. All of the results from the EdUHK rowers are listed as follows:

  • HPE Student Conference 2022-23

    The Department of Health and Physical Education successfully completed the HPE Student Conference 2022-23 on 13 April 2023 (Thursday). As the COVID-19 situation stabilizes, this year the conference resumed to poster presentation format and was held at Central Plaza. We had 10 Honours Projects and 12 Capstone Projects presented by our final year BEd (Physical Education) students. In addition, we established the HPE Best Poster Award this year to recognize presentations with the highest quality and innovation. The four awardees are as follows:

  • [2023 IBBA World Championships] EdUHK Lawn Bowlers with an outstanding performance in the international competition

    There was an international competition of the lawn bowl, held in Tweed Heads, Australia, from 5 – 17 March 2023. The EdUHK elite athlete-student, Kwok Wing, currently studying Bachelor of Health Education (Honours), participated in Men’s Single B4 Class and won the silver medal in the event. After that, he paired up with Tang Shun Yee for the Mixed Pairs B4 Class and won the Second Runner-Up. Congratulations to the outstanding achievement by Kwok Wing!

  • [HPE Seminar] Dr. Cooper and Dr. Boat Research Seminar

    The Department of Health and Physical Education (HPE) was delighted to have Dr. Simon Cooper, Associate Professor, and Dr. Ruth Boat, Senior Lecturer, in Sport and Exercise Psychology at Nottingham Trent University, visit the Department from 20 Mar 2023 to 22 March 2023.

  • [FLASS Dean’s Research Fund Seminar] Fluid Intake and/or Brief Mindfulness-based Intervention

    Dr. SUN Fenghua, Bob, Associate Professor of the HPE Department, delivered an online research seminar on “Fluid Intake and/or Brief Mindfulness-based Intervention: Possible strategies on improving cognitive function of college soccer players” on 8 March 2023. The seminar attracted around 20 colleagues and students to attend and exchange ideas. The project was funded by FLASS Dean’s Research Fund.

  • EdUHK Launches Jockey Club Sports Empowering Programme

    Thanks to The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust’s funding, the Department of Health and Physical Education (HPE) of The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) has launched the Jockey Club Sports Empowering Programme – the city’s first large-scale sports coaching programme integrating character education – with the support of Action Sports Foundation, the Hong Kong China Dragon Boat Association, Hong Kong Rugby Union, the Hong Kong Tennis Association and Hoops for Hope Basketball Asia.

  • Jockey Club Sports Empowering Programme Opening Ceremony and Press Conference

    Supported by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the Department of Health & Physical Education at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) is implementing a project “the Jockey Club Sports Empowering Programme”. This 3-year programme aims at promoting a motivational environment for youths to enjoy sport participation. Working with our 5 partnered sports organizations, we promote youth character building through their engagement in community sport. Your fellow staff members and students are invited to know more about our project, learn about our research studies, meet local athletes and participate in sports trials at our opening ceremony and press conference.
