  • Alumni Lunar New Year Football Competition

    The alumni of the Department of Health and Physical Education gathered together for the reunion to celebrate the Lunar New Year by participating in an alumni-friendly football match on 17 February 2024 at the football pitch of the Education University of Hong Kong with a spectacle of energy and enthusiasm. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement, with cheers and laughter echoing around the venue.

  • [2024 Singapore Canoe Marathon] Outstanding Performance from Chung Hoi Tik!

    The Singapore Canoe Marathon 2024 took place at the Marina Reservoir, Singapore from January 20 to 21. Our current elite athlete-student Chung Hoi Tik (Bachelor of Physical Education (Honours)) and Lo Wai Lok finished with a timing of 1hrs 22mins 0.4secs for the win in Open Mixed K2’s category (16km). Congratulations!

  • Light Up Teaching: HPE Students Integrate Technology in Physical Education

    BEd(PE) students from the Department of Health and Physical Education (HPE) designed a series of innovative activities utilizing reaction light systems, which they presented at the EDB Professional Development Program (PDP) to over 150 in-service physical education teachers on 19 and 30 January 2024.

  • [RTHK] Current Physical Activity Promotion Among People with Physical Disabilities

    In the recent episode of "Hong Kong Connection" on RTHK, Dr. LEUNG Ka Man, Carman, an Associate Professor from the Department of Health and Physical Education at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK), was invited to share her insights about the current physical activity promotion among people with physical disabilities. Dr Leung pointed out that people with physical disabilities tend to be lower in their fitness level, and their chance of doing physical activity is limited in our community.

  • HPE staff members and Elite Athlete Graduates attended the SF&OC Honour Roll Ceremony

    The Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) held the Honour Roll Ceremony on December 19th in celebration of the contributions of sports personalities. Dr. Louie Hung Tak, Lobo, Senior Lecturer & Associate Head, Department Health and Physical Education was honoured with the Medal of Honour in recognition of his achievements in the development of sports education and sports science in Hong Kong. HPE staff members and Elite Athlete Graduates were in attendance at the ceremony to show their support and appreciation for Dr. Louie's outstanding contributions. His dedication and expertise have greatly impacted the development of athletes and the overall sporting landscape in the region. Congratulations!

  • EdUHK Organised Jockey Club Sports Empowering Programme Sports Experience Day 2023

    Funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, organised by the Department of Health and Physical Education (HPE) of The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK), supported by Action Sports Foundation Limited, Hong Kong China Dragon Boat Association, Hong Kong China Rugby, Hong Kong, China Tennis Association and Hoops for Hope Basketball Asia, the Jockey Club Sports Empowering Programme Sports Experience Day 2023 was held at C.C.C. Heep Woh Primary School (Cheung Sha Wan) on 9 December 2023. The event aims to cultivate the positive sports learning atmosphere, and provide public education on the importance of a motivational environment in youth sports participation, through a myriad of sports trials and programme exhibition.

  • Music Pop-up in Community 2023

    Music Pop-up in Community is one of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department sponsored programme. Young musicians from 《喜動樂樂室內樂團》and the EdUHK Elite Athlete-students are selected to serve as community cultural ambassadors in 2023. The HPE lecturer, Ms. CHAN Ka Man, Carmen, responsible to collaborate and coordinate this event and leading elite athletes and students to participate more than 20 music and sports interactive concerts and workshops. We aim to promote better wellbeing including physical fitness, mental health and entertainment activities for the general public.

  • [The 16th World Wushu Championships] 1 GOLD, 2 SILVERS and 1 BRONZE from EdUHK’s Elite Athlete-Students

    Hong Kong team won a total of 9 medals – 3 golds, 3 silvers and 3 bronzes in the 16thWorld Wushu Championships. It was held from November 16 to 20 in Texas, the United States. Our current elite athlete-student Michelle Yeung (Bachelor of Health Education (Honours)) and our graduate He Jianxin (Master of Social Sciences in Sports Coaching and Management) achieved great results in Taolu. He Jianxin, Lydia Sham and Michelle Yeung won a gold medal in the Duilian Women event, was followed by Malaysia and Macao’s representatives. He Jianxin won silver medals in both Women's Nanquan and Women's Nangun and Michelle Yeung later took a bronze medal in Women's Gunshu. Congratulations!

  • [IBSF World Championship Qatar 2023] Chang Yu-kiu won a GOLD in Team Event!

    Our current elite athlete-student Chang Yu-kiu (Bachelor of Health Education (Honours)) and his partner Cheung Ka-wai won the IBSF World Men Team Snooker Championship. They came from behind against Ireland, Iran, and Poland to reach the final, and against players from Cyprus to win the Champion with a 4:2. They are the first to win this title for Hong Kong in recent years. Congratulations!
