1 Gold & 1 Silver medals from Lee Wai Sze In 2021 Tissot UCI Track Cycling Nations Cup!
2021 Tissot UCI Track Cycling Nations Cup (Hong Kong, China) has been completed at Hong Kong Velodrome on 16 May 2021. Ms Sarah Lee Wai-sze, BBS, MH, Honorary Fellow of EdUHK, Graduate of Bachelor of Health Education (Honours) won 1 gold medal and 1 silver medal in Women’s Sprint and Women’s Keirin respectively.

Championship of EdUHK in the USFHK women’s badminton final
Sportsroad reported on the 2020/21 USFHK Badminton Finals held at the EdUHK on 25 April. The EdUHK team beat the CityU team by 3:0 to win the championship in the women’s badminton final for the first time while the men's team beat the CityU team to win the 2nd runner up in the final. Congratulations to the team!

Lee Ho Ching – The Champion in Hong Kong Table Tennis Open Championship 2021
Sportsroad reported that Lee Ho Ching, the elite athlete-student of Bachelor of Health Education (Honours), has won the gold medal in Women’s Singles (Group A) at Hong Kong Table Tennis Open Championship 2021. Due to current pandemic situation, the Championship was played behind closed doors with participation of top players in Hong Kong Team. Ho Ching expressed that this was a good experience for preparing Olympic Games Tokyo, after the long period of suspension.

Virtual Sports Day at Free Methodist Mei Lam Primary School
HK01 reported that Free Methodist Mei Lam Primary School co-organized a two-week Virtual Sports Day with the Department of Health and Physical Education at EdUHK from 22 February – 5 March 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic.

HKACEP and EdUHK sign MoU to promote continuing education for retired athletes
Cable TV reported on HKACEP signing a MoU with EdUHK to promote continuing education for retired athletes. President Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung said the programme would help retired athletes decide their future pathways after retiring from their sportsman career. EdUHK Holds the First Virtual Athletics Meet
As lined up by CO, Ming Pao and Sportsroad reported that EdUHK held the first virtual annual athletics meet themed “Companion” to promote physical and mental health during the pandemic. The athletics meet was organised by students from the Department of Health and Physical Education. They have also worked with kindergartens, primary schools and special education schools to tip pupils and parents on safe exercises online, as well as planning to help other schools to hold virtual sports days.

“Ignite the Fighting Spirit – Who Says Dreams Never Come True?”
Former Hong Kong beach volleyball athlete Miss Chung Wai Wa has published her new book “Ignite the Fighting Spirit – Who Says Dreams Never Come True?” last month, covering the stories of Hong Kong elite athletes’ perseverance and determination as well we their journeys in pursuing a dual career pathway in sports and studies. Two of the HPE students have been interviewed, including current professional football player Mr Yuen Ho-chun and squad member of the Hong Kong national rugby sevens team Mr Eric Kwok Pak-nga.

EdUHK signs MOU with SF&OC to promote continued education among athletes
Local dailies reported that EdUHK and the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) signed a memorandum of understanding for providing higher education to retiring and retired local athletes, becoming the first local university to provide related supports to athletes. The memorandum of understanding was signed by Mr Timothy Fok Tsun-ting, President of SF&OC and Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung, President of EdUHK.

The Education-Plus has interviewed the former world champion cyclist Wong Kam-po and Hong Kong karate team member LEE Chun-ho have graduated from the Bachelor of Health Education (Honours) programme, and have been chosen to encourage young sportswomen and men to continue with their studies and their whole-person development.

EdUHK invites people with ASD to participate in its Annual Cross Country Race
As lined up by CO, HKET reported that the Department of Health and Physical Education (HPE) held the Annual Cross Country Race recently. Karate Hong Kong team representative Lee Chun-ho led EdUHK faculty members and people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to complete the race, raising public awareness and understanding of ASD.

EdUHK Annual Cross Country Race to promote inclusiveness
As lined up by CO, HK01, HKET, Ming Pao, Apple Daily, Commercial Daily and Sports Road reported that the EdUHK Annual Cross Country Race went virtual this year due to the epidemic. Participants had before 29 November to record and upload their miles through a mobile application with no restrictions on time and venue.
