  • HPE Academic Visit to Qinghai and attended the joint symposium of Qinghai, Hong Kong, and Tianjin

    HPE visited Qinghai Minzu University between 23 and 25 May to attend the third joint academic seminar on education, physical education and the development of physical and mental health in Qinghai, Hong Kong and Tianjin, as well as the subject development of high altitude physical education and health. Acting Associate Dean (international engagement) of Faculty of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (FLASS) Dr. SUN Fenghua, Bob, acting Head of Department Dr. TSE Choi Yeung, Andy, Dr. LEUNG Ka Man, Carman, Dr. ZHENG Chen, Dr. WONG Hoi Wai, Henry made academic presentations respectively and exchanged ideas with the scholars and students from Qinghai and Tianjin.

  • HPE Academic Visit to Shenzhen

    HPE participated in the teaching observation and seminars on health and physical education in primary and secondary schools on 29 April, 20 & 21 May, organized by the Shenzhen Institute of Education Sciences. Led by the acting Head of Department Dr. TSE Choi Yeung, Andy, staff including Mr. CHAN Ching Yat, Roy, Mr. SIU Ka Man, Tom and Ms. LIU Siu Man, Samantha met with the leaders in the School of Psychology of Shenzhen University, Longgang High School Affiliated to Central China Normal University, Shenzhen Longhua Future Primary School, Chenghan International Curriculum Experimental Campus, and Shenzhen Nanshan Foreign Language School (Group) Wenhua School. HPE department has strengthen academic exchanges with these institutions, and learn more about the development of physical education in Mainland China.

  • Water Safety Promotion Programme in Rural Areas of the Greater Bay Area

    The Department of Health and Physical Education (HPE) successfully organized the Water Safety Promotion Programme in Rural Areas of the Greater Bay Area in May 2024. Co-organized with the Hong Kong Swimming Teachers’ Association (HKSTA) and the Orphan Education Society Guangdong (OESG), the programme included three 5-day workshops in Xinyi City and Qianguancun. About 30 HPE students acted as the main or assistant swimming coach to teach more than 300 teenagers.Teaching content covered essential water safety knowledge, drowning prevention strategies, swimming techniques (breathing, floating, propulsion), and basic rescue skills. The programme aimed to address the lack of swimming and water safety education in rural areas, while helping HPE students apply their knowledge to benefit the community.

  • The Department of Health and Physical Education (HPE) Successfully Held the 2024 Swimming Teacher Certificate Course and Voluntary Teaching Service Activity in Guangdong Rural Areas

    From March to April, 2024, HPE and the Hong Kong Swimming Teachers' Association held a special course, the Swimming Teacher Certificate course. After passing the basic water test, 30 students of HPE took joined the course. The course lasted for one month, with a total duration of 34 hours, including swimming theory lessons and practical lessons.

  • Enhancing Focus and Coordination: BEd(PE) Students Create Home Exercises for ADHD

    The Bachelor of Education (Physical Eduction) students designed a series of home exercises specifically tailored for students with ADHD, aimed at enhancing their coordination and concentration. These innovative exercises were created to provide engaging and effective physical activities that cater to the unique needs of students with ADHD.

  • The Education University of Hong Kong held “The Second Hong Kong Sitting Light Volleyball Competition”

    (Hong Kong ∙ March 3, 2024) The second Hong Kong Sitting Light Volleyball Competition, organized by the Department of Health and Physical Education, the Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) and the Hong Kong Light Volleyball Association, and co-organized by the Hong Kong Federation of Handicapped Youth and GDCD Association Limited), was successfully held on March 3 at the Lai Kok Community Hall in Sham Shui Po. Athletes with physical disabilities from Hong Kong and Shenzhen showcased their sportsmanship in the games. The Hong Kong teams achieved the second and fourth place in the competition.
