  • [FLASS Dean’s Research Fund Seminar] Fluid Intake and/or Brief Mindfulness-based Intervention

    Dr. SUN Fenghua, Bob, Associate Professor of the HPE Department, delivered an online research seminar on “Fluid Intake and/or Brief Mindfulness-based Intervention: Possible strategies on improving cognitive function of college soccer players” on 8 March 2023. The seminar attracted around 20 colleagues and students to attend and exchange ideas. The project was funded by FLASS Dean’s Research Fund.

  • EdUHK Launches Jockey Club Sports Empowering Programme

    Thanks to The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust’s funding, the Department of Health and Physical Education (HPE) of The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) has launched the Jockey Club Sports Empowering Programme – the city’s first large-scale sports coaching programme integrating character education – with the support of Action Sports Foundation, the Hong Kong China Dragon Boat Association, Hong Kong Rugby Union, the Hong Kong Tennis Association and Hoops for Hope Basketball Asia.

  • Jockey Club Sports Empowering Programme Opening Ceremony and Press Conference

    Supported by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the Department of Health & Physical Education at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) is implementing a project “the Jockey Club Sports Empowering Programme”. This 3-year programme aims at promoting a motivational environment for youths to enjoy sport participation. Working with our 5 partnered sports organizations, we promote youth character building through their engagement in community sport. Your fellow staff members and students are invited to know more about our project, learn about our research studies, meet local athletes and participate in sports trials at our opening ceremony and press conference.   • Disney Open House for Dream Makers for PES1274 Sport Management and Development of BSc(SPSC)

    On 2 Feb 2023, 29 students from Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Sports Science and Coaching programme attended Disney Open House for Dream Makers as part of the course “PES1274 Sport Management and Development”. The event was the first in-park Career Development and Job Recruitment Expo at Hong Kong Disneyland. It was a valuable opportunity for our students to learn about the operation and management of the resort as well as their possible diverse career choices.

  • Tips for Writing Successful Grant Applications – Prof David Anderson

    The Department of Health and Physical Education (HPE) was delighted to have our Honorary Professor, Prof David Ian ANDERSON, Director of the Marian Wright Edelman Institute for the Study of Children, Youth, and Families, San Francisco State University, to visit the Department from 27 January to 3 February 2023.

  • EdUHK Seminar on Local Sports Development

    The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) held a seminar on 20 January, in which the Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Mr Kevin Yeung Yun-hung discussed the prospect of local sports development and the role of local educational institutions in promoting physical activity.

  • Dr Carman LEUNG Announces Research Findings of study “physical fitness level of people using wheelchair in Hong Kong”

    Supported by Hong Kong Disneyland and in cooperation with Hong Kong Federation of Handicapped Youth (HKFHY), Dr. LEUNG Ka Man, Carman, Assistant Professor of HPE, has announced the findings of the physical fitness and physical activity level of Hong Kong people using wheelchair in a press conference on 14 January 2023. As the first research endeavor specifically for the population with physical disabilities in Hong Kong, Dr Leung and her research team revealed that wheelchair users have showed poor flexibility and body composition indices. Further, most participants were satisfied with their quality of life and would like to participate in outdoor activities and voluntary works.
